>> No.25552027

I started learning to dev on ehtereum several months ago. At first I was bullish in ETH because of how cool the tech is. Now I realize the tech becomes useless as ETH gets more expensive and even if 2.0 works out the tech is pretty unviable for anything other than a platform to exchange other shitcoins and that's with L2 bullshit that IMO is inelegant.
The promise of smart contract lies in real world applications like real estate escrow and legit securities trading not DeFi pyramid schemes. I've gone from thinking ethereum is the bee's knees to viewing ETH as just another shitcoin.
I want to see public blockchain tech that isn't attached to coin which invites speculation. LNK has this same problem. If the coin moons then the computing power it buys becomes unaffordable and inaccessible thus undermining the intrinsic value the coin offers in the first place.

Biz is either retarded or ironically fudding eth. Eth is an easy 10x from here, anyone that isn't a complete brainlet can see that. Eth has outperformed btc BY FAR this past year, and it will continue to do so as long as btc doesn't crash. Should you buy eth now? You should've bought it 12 months ago, but the second best time is now. So stop asking if you should wait, and just buy now. If you think crypto is going to long term, then it's an obvious buy opportunity. If you feel like you're fomoing in that's just the anxiety you'll have to live with since you're late.

I can't see any reason to want ETH to moon other than because you're invested in ETH and can't figure out how to sell it. You'd have to be whale who wants to offload your ETH. The higher ETH gets the more impractical it becomes to do anything with other tokens. The whole system becomes ever more reliant on on L2 which is layer of abstraction that's significantly harder to wrap one's head around than the chain itself which means less adoption by normies which means less adoption which means less mooning for all your shitcoins. It's hard enough to explain how blockchain and the EVM works and why it's beneficial to use it. Now I have to explain why it makes sense to offload the computation back off the chain and this is justified with more hashes and zero knowledge proofsl Most people already trading cryptos probably couldn't tell you what a hash is or how the BTC ledger works.
The EVM is beautiful tech and has lots of real world potential especially with oracles. But pushing ETH prices up to where you can't do anything without L2 makes me uneasy.
>>25554805
I've read the white paper but haven't gone further because I haven't even used any oracleshit in my own ethdev. My fledgeling knowledge of blockchain comes from my efforts to develop with it and my understanding of how scammers are leveraging the tech to justify their shitcoins is secondary.
>>25553752
>Picrel is bullish as fuck
Only in a short sighted view. All those TXs are due to the myriad of projects running on ethereum, as you know. Not because ETH is hot shit and everyone wants to trade it. To me this obscene amount being spent on Ethereum network is ETH's big weakness. Everybody who has to deal with the EVM is evermore incentivized to get work done off the ethereum chain as gas demand soars and ETH moons. The intrinsic value of ETH is seriously capped by the value itself. ETH is like whale oil. The next developments in executing smart contracts are petroleum whether that be L2 or a new chain.

>>25554368
>Do you think that Banks and big institutions will leave out this current $16 billion market on the table and let others scoop up all the ether so they can profit from the DeFi market??
DeFi is a swamp of nerd grifters and it's already straining the Ethereum network resulting in untenable gas prices. Reductions in gas price caused by 2.0 (if it works) will be cancelled out by greater adoption and/or mooning ETH prices. There is a distinct ceiling to ETH's price and anything above it is thanks to speculation and if ETH where to ever stay overvalued it would chase everyone off the network pretty quickly.

See, this is the biggest problem with blockchain development rn. Everyone seems solely focused on using it to do ponzi schemes that don't even go beyond the sphere of crypto itself. At least do a ponzi scheme that leverages real-world assets! (Beside representations of fiat).
There are myriad real world applications of smart contracts that normies will be interested in. I guess it's up to me to capitalize on this and be among the first to market with real world applications of blockchain that aren't made up phantoms to justify ICOs.

Thats the point retard. High gas price means that people are rushing to buy ether to put their money in DeFi and get 10% APY. Wait until normies find out that they can safely earn 10% APY on their money. Everyone is gonna massively buy ether to stake their coins and get a high APY. Banks, hedge funds, and investment banks will scoop up all the ether, making syntethic finance products and offers investors 8-9% APY on their investment, but all they do is convert their investors cash to ether and stake it on DeFi or ethereum staking. Lets see how big investment banks can compete with their miserable 1-2% with DeFi that offers 10-20% APY.
