Just tried explaining to my wife that a "coin" is nothing. It's just a mark on a big ledger that everyone can look at and go "Yep. Bob has 2 Bitcoins. This big record says so." She's not getting it.

>Why can't you make your own ledger and give yourself lots of money?

Why are you trying to explain something to a woman?

Are you dumb?
You "can" make a ledger and give yourself tons of that money, but it's not going to be worth shit unless other people are willing to buy it for a certain price.
Bitcoin has many features that make it valuable.
Reminder that the dollar is only 4% of what it was 100 years ago. And it's not backed by shit and can be printed by a private institution,

But you can.
It's called an ICO, and if you do it right, you make lots of money.
And if you just do it like whatever… you still have a lot of coins.

Now she's saying
>Ok so then why are you spending our money on nothing?

She thinks I'm trying to say coins are like checks that you can take to the bank and the bank gives you money for it.

I'm trying to explain that no, there is no "money" to be given here. Just another notch in the ledger which says you do or do not own some of this thing.

Her response is
>Well can you actually buy anything with it?
I said yeah, a lot of places are accepting it now and there are debit cards for it.
>So that means it's money..
Yeah sure, but you can essentially get more of it by solving math problems...with a computer...
