Dot controls the root chain (relay chain). Dots control governance, the treasury, funding proposals, gain staking rewards, etc. Parachains connect to the rootchain by locking Dots, giving value to Dots by shrinking supply. Parachains who communicate with other parachains through the relay chain pay messaging fees in Dots. Parachains who transfer messages to and from bridge parachains pay fees in Dots.

Basically anything built on Dot gives value to Dot, and anything not built on Dot also gives value to Dot, due to the bridges being built.

People think that Polkadot is too expensive now but this shit is 2015 / 2016 Ether, when it was fluctuating between one and five dollars. Wait a year or two until the whole orchestra goes live.

Dot is owning the land where skyscrapers are being built.
