Keeping cash under your bed won't stop inflation from making it lose value each day.
Used to be that keeping cash was the worst approach since you could put it in a savings account and at least get a decent interest rate paid to you for doing that, but now traditional savings banks effectively pay you zero interest so it's about as bad either way. Which is intentional. Part of the motivation for maintaining an inflationary monetary policy is to put pressure on people to spend money on the economy instead of just hoarding money and doing nothing with it.
Also it's not all evil since inflation means any debt you owe will reduce in reap value terms e.g. if you imagine one day a loaf of bread began having a market value of $1000 USD then anyone locked in with a fixed rate mortgage paying around $1000 / month will now see their mortgage debt reduced to something equivalent to $3 / month in today's USD.
Inflation tends to help borrowers at the expense of lenders.

Bitcoin is unironically the safest place to put far-money over the past ten years.
YoY you made 10,000%. Absolute terms you made 80,500x your principle. S&P returned 3.7x. Bitcoin's beta was 8x greater than S&P, but you made 21,180 times more return. Therefore Bitcoin's risk adjusted return was 2,726 times greater than S&P 500. Which makes it ridiculously less risky in actual terms than the dang doobly stock market

You cash out when you want, that's the beautiful thing between bitcoin, and the fake stock market retirement scheme where they decide how much you take out and when you can take it out. Same reason why social security failed. If you make the age limit like 65, yeah no fucking shit it will make money a good chunk of those people will die before they can even take out a decent percentage of what they put in.
