Just like search and social media, the market is a natural monopoly due to network effects, if Amazon didn't come along someone else would've and would now be collecting (((rents))) from e-commerce profits.

Meanwhile without a guy like Elon making EV's significantly more efficient and even SEXY to the average consumer, electric vehicles would probably still be mostly confined to about the same share of the car market as the Toyota Prius was at 10 years ago, and they'd be shitty EV's that no one likes ala the Chevy Volt. Not to mention all the other groundbreaking shit that no one could have imagined funding 10 years ago like SpaceX.
