No. Your private keys are never sent to your computer, so even if you have a keylogger it won't see anything. That's the whole point really. You could use your hardware wallet in he most malware infested piece of shit machine and feel safe knowing your private keys aren't getting stolen. Just make sure the transactions on your device match what's on the screen, since any malware targeting wallets would probably go for that kind of attack over anything else. If your browser says 0.124 ETH transaction but your hardware wallet reads 124 ETH, don't fucking accept it.

why not just use a paper wallet? ledger nano x is a complete piece of shit by the way. had one and it would never connect properly, tried to return it and there is zero phone support. some pajeet in france tells me I have to return it to france in 2 weeks at my expense or no return. take 3 days just to get the correct return address out of him. still not sure if i will ever see any refund. stay far away from ledger. I'm convinced all the good reviews or nothing but resellers making money off it. I'm not even sure if I want to try trezor t or just use a paper wallet generated on an air gapped laptop.

How idiotic are you exactly? I made it abundantly clear for you in my example: if a paper wallet gets stolen, you lose everything. The private key is right there for any thief to see, and nothing is stopping him from copying it and stealing everything.

With a hardware wallet, that is not possible, because it's locked behind a pin.

If you then write the seed phrase words on a piece of paper, then throw your hard drive in a volcano, your addresses can still receive coins.
If you take that seed phrase and input it on air gapped Linux laptop, your addresses can still receive coins.
From the perspective of the Network, where the wallet "is" at the time of a deposit does not matter.
Your wallet is disconnected from the Network, so it doesn't know its own balance, and it can't broadcast the transactions it creates, so you have to do that manually, but still, wallet software works fine offline.
