Casino table games dealer here, we were on the decline even before covid.
I've definitely seen "regular folk" giving up coming in and playing. It seems you have to be somewhat well off to even afford the minimums. I deal mostly to small business owners (rip), landlords, retired professionals, farmers, people with oil wells, etc.. people that do jack shit all day. Once the boomers die off they take traditional casinos down with it.
The only thing I could see saving it is maybe a shift focus on group interaction and better player experience... see Ceasar rebranding to Caesar "Entertainment". I don't know how you'd do it, you'd have to kick all the addicts and degenerates out first.

With that said, this year has been the absolute worst for fights, outbursts and general shitty people I've had to deal with. Covid and masks has pushed people over the edge, they will argue over nothing and fight other patrons over seating and petty shit since they've implemented the restrictions. I don't blame people for staying home.

Isn't that a thing for like decades now? I think I read something about tourists in Vegas spending like a few hundred dollars or something on average, whereas whales spend millions and that's why they went from just offering the normal Joe a free buffet to accommodate to the super rich 0.1% of gamblers since that's where the money is for them.

online gambling doesn't have the fixed costs of a lavish hotel resort just to get people in. they just log in because they wanna play - you don't have to make them.

So I think online gambling is the future for normal people. Rich dudes will still go to Vegas or Macao or whatnot.

Yeah, you're right about the whales. Something like 80% of what my casino brings in is from like a dozen or so people.

Still, I really see online gaming taking off for normal people. It's still seen as "shady" or too complicated to set up for facebook moms. Literally the only people I know that gamble online are the /biz/ type.
