You will be able to take out loans from your 6M base and thus reup the loan every year.....no taxes since its a loan...the rich have done this forever via "whole life insurance" and "collateral based loans on stocks". Now will be your turn.

There are 46.8 million millionaires in the world.

Only 21 million BTC. Only 18.5 mil mined and the rest to trickle out the next 120 years. Estimated 3-4 mil lost from the early days and over time. By a longshot, not enough for even just the millionaires of the world to have 1 BTC each, let alone the unwashed masses.

Even if BTC just becomes a store-of-value pristine collateral and nothing else, and it only reaches the same level as gold (a relatively small market of $9 trillion), that is still $500,000 per coin.

The entire PM market is poisoned with derivatives. The difference with BTC is that while derivatives exist, they only have so much power to influence the actual masses of real buyers and sellers because anyone can opt-out of counterparty risk easily and at any time just by holding their own private key.

When a big institution comes along and buys a bunch of gold, they aren't actually taking possession of it. They are just entering into a contract with some custodial service (like HSBC) that """guarantees""" that they have the actual underlying asset, when really it's just another fractional reserve system.

But when a big institution like PayPal comes along and buys 10,000 BTC, you can't fake it, it's on the public ledger. That is withdrawn from the circulating supply and there's nothing trading desks can do about it. JP Morgan is a known manipulator of silver futures, but they've been running into similar problems this year as the physical deliveries are now ramping up, and JPM's stockpile is diminishing, meaning they can't just go naked shorting anymore or they will get rekt.

In today's market, (non-physical) gold/silver is more of a ponzi than BTC. And I'm a goldbug too, I hold physical gold/silver/platinum, gold/silver/uranium miners, as well as crypto.

yes, the rehypothecation that exist in PM market is easily covered up and controlled.
look at what happen in March when the COMEX failed physical delivery across the board
"just a few weeks delay guys...ya know covid as impacted shipping"
that was a brief "glitch in the matrix" then everything went back to normal with fiat / paper delivery (the situation is normalized)

such games cant be played in btc as its as simple as "sending an email" as it is to take delivery of 100B in bitcoin.
the true price of PMs should realistically be 100x then it is currently, but the supreme hassle of dealing with anything greater than 2000oz makes (exponentially harder as you get to tons) creates the ability for them to rehypothecate the shit out of it.
I was a former goldbug who latched on to bitcoin once i understood this is what breaks the manipulators hands and allows true price discovery.

Everything else is a lousy scam, BTC is pure. It's a transparent store of value, and that's enough. All this API bs, consensus crap - is just product differentiation, it is not necessary for what people really want out of their coins (financial stability).
The problem with btc is same as any other currency, to my understanding. In a deflationary scenario people just start hoarding it, and don't want to let go. Which obviously makes it more deflationary. And so, repeat. Art some point it loses its effectiveness as monetary tool. That's why economists suggest ideal currency has just a little bit inflation: on one hand nobody panic, on the other - people are not attached to their coins.

Cities WANT homeless people to move into public housing, they don't want people sleeping in gutters, they only do that because they're mentally ill and literally don't go back to the public housing at night after you show them it.

You have to play the system, ESPECIALLY if you're poor. Try to get in a jobs program too.

>TC is pure. It's a transparent store of value, and that's enough
You SOV guys are going to get wrecked in the future. Nothing about BTC inherently makes it a store of value, you're just buying into a meme at this point. BTC is a deflationary currency, full stop. Currencies are only as valuable as the number and type of people willing to use them, and eventually something WILL replace bitcoin. Bitcoin's already seriously hampered by the blocksize problem and pretending it's an SOV so that doesn't matter isn't going to save you.

I still think BTC is going to massively appreciate over the next few years, but I also have no doubt that privacy coins are the real future. Bitcoin's breakout was the silk road, but now you can't buy drugs with bitcoin because it's all tracked and regulators know how to check wallet transactions now. Criminals have already moved to monero and I think they're the smart money. Once institutions finish buying into bitcoin, that's when the timer starts on the permanent collapse of bitcoin's price as institional stakeholders realize they're literally holding digital vapor and nobody actually wants bitcoin because you can't buy drugs OR coffee with it.

That's true for everything. I'm not concerned with abstract eventually.
One concern is: Will it last my lifetime? Will it last next 15 years? A lot of these meme currencies will not last even that.
The other one is: is there anything better now? From what I can see - probably not.

Privacy coins can't really be regulated out any more than illegal drugs or CP trade can be, which gives them a reliable userbase into the foreseeable future. I don't think so. Bitcoin may get the point where it's not usable unless you hold .10 BTC or more. Everyone else could get priced out of transactions, but that really won't matter as long as the security is still good. It will just become a 'status' coin, like having an exclusive black credit card or a netjets account.

No, because btc amount in a transaction is relative to the settlement currency. You only get priced out if you don't have enough btc or the price of what you are buying with it is too high. Unless the thing you are buying IS the settlement currency. In other words you want to buy BTC at a lower price in fiat terms. Which is what you're referring to, right? Bitcoin can only support about 400k transactions per day. If transaction demand exceeds that supply, then you get a bidding market, like everyone saw in late 2017 and fees go up. If most Bitcoin is controlled by institutions, then you can bet this will be the case, and the fees they will be willing to pay will be out of reach for most individuals who don't have a net worth sufficient to own quite a bit of Bitcoin.

These people have always and will always exist. I still remember feeding $100 bills into an ATM. Point is, bitcoin has never been "inexpensive", conversely, when bitcoin is "inexpensive" (deeply oversold) this doesn't bolster the confidence of the non-confident speculator either. So any natural, normal person is trapped if they are of conservative mindset in terms of speculation. These simple psychological factors explain why most people are not speculators, and not good investors. Much of the work of selling expensive things (cars, houses, securities) is overcoming someone's inhibitions concerning their understanding of risk (overstated) and reward (unknown) and comparatively large orders of magnitudes of scale vs. all the experience they have in personal financial decisions on a day to day basis. Its easier to ask someone to pay a small mortgage fee on a schedule than a single large sum. Likewise, beginning investors can override their reticence by automatic and schedule based decision making, aka cost averaging.

About 1500 B shares to an A share. Interestingly the stock is mostly flat for the year despite Buffett pumping the price with buybacks because he says he has nothing better to do with cash. If he had any Ballsacc left he would put 0.5% in bitcoin, at least. I'm fairly confident the younger managers who will replace him soon will buy bitcoin. Buffett's moves as a hedge fund are very much reflect normal "price too expensive" perceptions. For example, waiting until Apple was a trillion dollar company before buying 7% of it. When Berkshire buys bitcoin, it will buy a Saylor-size amount.
