Here the issues with it are as follows.
1. Centralized premined
This isn’t awful if your token has a utility (see ETH 2.0’s model and LINK) but XRP is only a currency in which can be dumped on at any time. This is a redflag.
2. Company is about hyping up its currency
This goes against SEC and on top of this is a redflag. LINK marines will EOY 1k, and if XRP schitzos were the only ones also hyping up their price it’d also be fine. Issue is they are not, Ripple does as well. The company’s end goal is hyping their shit up for implementation but this also is sketchy since it screams P&D if it wasn’t a top 10 coin.
3. Low return rates.
Historically this coin hasn’t made returns and because its premined it can be dumped arribtaty (which has been done) to let thise at Ripple make dosh. Again screams P&D.
4. Other projects are better
Why would I want to use XRP when XMR and BTC are things? Or if I want faster transactions TRX or BCH?
5. Ideological opposition
At the end of the day this is what kills it for me. I love LINK, DEFI, BTC, ETH, and XMR because they create parallel systems to the current banking system which I see as corrupt. XRP embraces the system.

So long story short it looks like a P&D shitcoin, isn’t a special project besides it works with Banks (which is bad) and if you want to make money off it then gamble on something that actually has a good amount of life in its gains. Different cryptocurrencies have different 'consensus mechanisms', which is how the network decides which transactions are valid and added to the ledger.
Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS) are the two most common ones. They both provide economic incentives for validators to be honest. That incentive is what allows the network to be decentralized and trustless. Because of this incentive structure, the networks can be open to everyone without much risk of malicious actors attempting to approve fraudulent transactions. Proof of stake works by selecting a random node based on the amount of coins they have staked. That node then selects a bunch of transactions they'd like to add to the ledger. A committee of other nodes is then formed and they vote on the block, if they think it's legit they'll vote 'yes', if they think it's fraudulent they'll vote 'no'. If they decide the block contains fraudulent transactions the node who proposed the block will lose money in their stake. (it's generally a bit more complicated, but that's the basic idea)

XRP works differently, instead of economically incentivized decentralized consensus it has a list of 'trusted' nodes which vote on transactions. Much like proof of stake, but there's no penalty process. Meaning there's no economic incentive for being honest, so nodes must be trusted beforehand.
That trust means it can't be decentralized, as the nodes must approve trusted individuals to handle transactions. Completely defeating the purpose of cryptocurrencies and limiting node operators to those who have been approved by Ripple. Which usually means banks and financial institutions. Meaning the banks still have complete control over the coins and transactions.
That's why it's hated.
