Not exactly rich, but well off and good with money/finances. My father recieved good money from his work, but was always out of money cuz he was a gambler and addict on card games. Meanwhile at home, we were always out of food and eated little variaty of food, the walls were full of mold, when it rained, we walls dripped hard. When he died, I recieved half of his salary for 6 years, and oh boy... I was still a great deal of money, it was inexcusable the way we lived with my dad getting is full salary. As I was getting that money, since I never had a financial education, I've spent that money on hookers, drugs, tattoos, CDs, metal concerts and food. I invested 0% of that money, thinking to myself that that money was cursed or something, since I was thinking about killing myself every single day. Well, I'm way more sawy with money now, when I make it, I know what not to do, but it's hard to forgive my dad even after his death. Someone had a similar experience? I think I had a very different life or a young man of my age.

My dad is already rich but didn't really give me or my siblings money beyond paying for college and giving me 5k when I graduated college to buy a used car. On one hand, he could easily give us each enough money to retire immediately (all in our 20s and 30s) without affecting his retirement at all, on the other hand I have to respect how he's done things to some extent. Me and my siblings are all financially independent and have decent jobs (I'm the youngest and just got my first low-paying but interesting job in IT). Even though I wish I could live a life doing all that I want to do, which is technically feasible if my dad were to die tomorrow, at least this way I know what it takes to achieve a reasonable life and I can instill that in my kids. My dad probably won't pass until I'm in my 40s or 50s, and the money I inherit then will likely provide for a comfortable retirement as well as money or assets I can pass on to my children. Maybe I won't live to the fullest extent that I could were I given everything, but I don't mind having to live a more balanced life.

If I become that rich, sure. But it's more like I'm just trying to move my family up the socioeconomic ladder.
I ate out of the trash as a kid and skipped meals, my kids will eat upper middle class meals, and their kids will eat wagyu beef or whatever.
Priorities:
1. Good home in safe environment/neighborhood
2. Financial stability
3. Good education in good school culture
4. Assistance where needed (purchase of first home, etc)
Competition is way too harsh for the next generation to just leave them to it. Even for my generation it was clear that those who's parents took an interest in their education, helped with funding college/homes/etc got ahead while those who struggled alone fell behind. For the next generations there will be even less to go around and they'll need every advantage.

Here's my scenario rn: College freshman, can't get a private loan so I can't continue into next semester. I got As and Bs as a MechE major. I'm doing better than a lot of the freshmen on scholarships but I'll be forced to leave uni. The next logical step is enlisting in the military so I can eventually go back to college and pay off the past due balance. If I had rich parents, hell even middle class parents I could have that stability growing up. I envy the rich kids but at the same time I'm grateful that I'm a hardened motherfucka who will do whatever it fucking takes. Its very likely though that I will be a virgin for a long time since 4 years military means no fucking and 4 years college means no fucking as well because I don't want to have a gf much younger than me. I work hard but I've come to realize that working hard alone doesn't get you places, the fucking positioning of where you are starting in life matters a lot more.
