>get laid off because of COVID
>lose health insurance after 6months even though I haven’t used it in the 15 years I’ve had it and probably paid in 300k
>get excruciating pain
>literally would rather die than get an E.R. Bill.
>Girlfriend essentially forces me to E.R. after seeing me curled up in a ball for hours
>wait 5 hours to see an actual doctor
>doc tells the nurse to give me morphine while they ready the cat scan
>immediately start thinking about suicide due to how much this will cost
>get cat scan
>had appendicitis for 15 years and it’s about to erupt
>tell the nurse I just want to leave
>gets the doctor, surgeon, and my girlfriend to convince me I’ll die if they don’t do surgery
>6 hour surgery removing appendix and all the scar tissue fused to intestines
>recovery takes 3 days. Think about suicide for 3 days
>get bill for 23k

Been there a decade ago. I got laid off my job with insurance and worked with no insurance for a year and some change. Got recalled due to business picking back up and gave my two weeks. A week before I got back my appendix ruptured. Plus I woke up on the table and tried to pull my throat tube out, then ruptured the sacs in my lungs trying to breathe in while my airway was obstructed. 32k bill. Anon go to the billing department and talk to someone there. Give them your financial info and see if they'll work with you. They cut my bill in half, hell an exacto blade tip for the surgery was charged out at 250$. An ice pack was on my bill for 28$. I think the prices are jacked up so they can take a hit from an insurance adjuster and not take a loss. Go talk to them. Be humble, and honest about your financial situation and say you don't know how you're going to pay them. When I got down to 5k on the bill (16k dropped from 32k) the nice lady in the payment department said if I can pay 2k they'll write the rest off. I paid 14k of my 32k bill. What have you got to lose?

OP, based on the limited info and timeframes you gave, I don't see why you wouldn't still be covered under COBRA.
