thread for 30+ yro boomers to chat about finance like big boys

frens my wife and i collectively have a net worth of around $900k. currently we have no crypto. i think we should own some bitcoin but we're both scared buying into ATH. i feel like there's a good chance of a rally to $100k, but also don't want to be called a retard if it retraces to $10k or below. how do you navigate this shit when you have shared finances?

yes, but at ATH. It's not like you had 12 years to buy literally at any point lower than this. This is the right moment. Go all in!

Just market buy 1 BTC then forget about it for 10 years. You have the net worth to absorb that easily if it goes to zero.
It’s a highly asymmetric bet in your favor.
Let your boomer stocks keep growing. Don’t fuck with them.

So you are telling me the "pornhub" thing is when you heard about bitcoin for first time?

So even if you wanted to buy at retrace, why the hell are you wanting to buy now? Wait for your retrace if that was your strategy.

no of course not, but it is what made me think that it actually has the potential for adoption as an actual currency

Wife wears the pants in the relationship, playing keeping up with the joneses to see who has the best car in your shity cookie cutter suburb neighborhood. When he retires he'll probably move down to florida and buy a condo like the rest of the boomer cancer while the west gets sold out to china and becomes brazil. I really really cannot overstate how much I hate married normie cucks and their shitty kids that they only had because they tried to prove to themselves that their lives were actually worth something. Meanwhile the kids end up resenting them because they are complete failures and throw them into nursing homes as soon as they are of age.

Your best option here since you are risk averse to crypto, is to buy 1 BTC and forget that crypto exists.

Exactly. anyone wonder why they are flooding the west with immigrants? Its because the populations arent reproducing themselves at sustainable numbers. Next generation immigrants will stop reproducing also because people are realizing that they are literal cattle being born into slavery and a very small international clique controls the money supply and is calling all of the shots

Haha no.....
Asset markets will continue to rise in spite of crypto. Long term investors will hold their positions in stocks and with the Capital Gains tax pending, will keep money in the market. No one will exit all of their holdings just to FOMO bitcoin. Having said this, BTC is absolutely a worth while venture if you're going to hold long term as it will become the new main store of value over gold. So diversify your assets more and invest in BTC.

>> No.25098238

>>25097829
well that's certainly the consensus opinion. mine is this: consider all the money in stocks, bonds, and real estate that is primarily concerned with long term preservation of capital (i.e avoiding inflation). after BTC stabilizes in price, which it necessarily will do if it survives, BTC will be a much better vehicle for avoiding inflation. therefore, there will be less of an incentive to own e.g. negative yielding bonds vs. bitcoin (which will actually have a risk free yield once lightning pool is launched).

I'm in similar situation as you OP. I say I have a friend that bought in btc years ago with 300$ at 6k , he forgot about it. He's up a few k , but he was also down $150 on it just in the past 6 months. My point is you have to realize some gains in the short term 1-3 years, or don't touch it for 10 years. The more I fuck with buying and selling the more money I lose.

>> No.25098730

>>25098238
I think it will remain and actually increase as a staple asset that long term investors use to generate wealth, albeit a better one than gold. This is much more realistic than crypto being the primary asset an investor holds.
