realistically, is there anyone still here who was around whilst the crypto threads were still on /g/ and we had comfy threads about personal finance and autistic fugal living tips?

I create frugal living threads once in a while. It gets like 40-50 replies usually and then gets buried by daily Indian/Chink shill threads and dies.

I've seen plenty of people on /biz/ who claim to have been invested in BTC and talking about it on 4chan since ~2012... a lot of them are retired and just come here to pass time since they quit their jobs... so the answer to your question is yes

I came to biz when biz was created, before that was heavy into dogecoin and lurked /dogecoin even tho everyone there was retarded. Was entertaining watching that whole community get scammed over and over and over. Also was on the bitcoinforums/bitcointalk throughout 2011 when I first learned about bitcoin.

Yeah, I was. I didn't actively invest until a couple of years ago. Didn't have the money to buy bitcoin all those years ago. When biz was created, I didn't expect the entire board to basically become a platform for shilling crypto. Kinda disappointing.
