The current copy is BASE.
There are some copypastas about how it's flawed by design.
But the copypastas also suck and ignore lots of stuff, search the archives.
FUD? In theory it has no function it's just some cool experiment.
FOMO? The thing can make you rich faster than any other shitcoin.

It's the only non-deflationary cryptocurrency base-money, that is not backed by the dollar in some way.

It will be very volatile until the MC is a lot higher.

Fundamental PROs:

There is no way to dilute your share, yet single units aim to have a fixed worth, which makes it the most sound base currency ever invented by man.

Fundamental CONs:

It needs wide adoption to be stable (like any base currency would).

There are other projects that employ a rebase mechanism (like the one, the creators behind this protocol invented), but no other protocol aims to have units that are fundamental 'building blocks' like this one does. At least as far as I know.

Long-term: You'd also be interested in looking at the governance model.

Saying the peg is literally the same thing is also not correct. BASE's peg can go both up or down, AMPL's peg is fixed.
