I work as a freelance, and let me tell you absolutely ALL my job opportunities happened through network, mostly thanks to friends.
Unfortunately I'm bad at keeping in contact and therefore struggle to get jobs.
Seriously, networking is as important as being skilled in your job, and actually it's even more important.
This is the number one thing I wish I understood sooner in my career.
If you think networking is for women or some other stupid claim like that then you're completely clueless about how the world works.
