Van Patten's

- Legible Font
- Good overall layout and spacing
- Doesnt look cheap
- Cardstock texture looks decent, as opposed to Bryce's "recycled cardboard/paper" texture

The only strikes against Van Patten's card is the fact that his name is bigger than the companies name (a big no-no to some), and the obvious misspelling.

Allen's is the most legible, but it also looks the most cheap, like he made it in Microsoft word himself, and then just printed it out on dollar store cardstock. His card also breaks the rule of his name outshining the company's name.

Bateman's embossment is nice, but the formatting of the card is all over the place. and it also has that cheap printer paper look to it.

Bryce's card is also legible, but the font is cheap looking, and it looks even worse on that ugly cardstock.

It's not just the card, it's the presentation. A purpose-built spring-action case that only holds a single card at a time. The person you give it to thinks you regard him as important and worthy, enough that you're willing to part with your one and only card. The case opens and the card springs out of it, fully erect at all times, just like you.

Bateman's card is thin but sharp font. The man knows what he was talking about with the 'Cillian Braille'. I also like the 'Bone' coloring. It's neat and isn't covered with a tacky texture. Professional, no-nonsense, straight to the point. However, it does have it's drawbacks as a result: it looks quite basic and, like Bateman himself, shallow. 8/10

Van Patten's is dogshit. The lettering looks too bold, on the verge of being too cartoonish. Perhaps worse of all, you can't even see the emphasis on his last name. The texture, from the looks of it, is too rough and comparable to carpet lining or a cement wall. The "Eggshell" coloring looks like cum with light streaks of piss in it. Messy, unpleasant, and forgettable. 4/10

Timothy Bryce suffers from the same faults as Van Patten's bar a few improvements. I appreciate the clean lettering, though it seems a bit too 'new wave' for my taste. Looks more like something out of the 2000s than the 80s. I also dislike the texture, coarse but not to the extent of Van Patten's. At least 'Pale Nimbus' is a clean white. 6/10

Paul Allen's is peak clean. No texture, clean and basic font, normal white. However, it doesn't seem to have any engraving compared to the other cards or at least not to the same extent. I still prefer Bateman's card to Allen's just because of the font but it's a serious contender. 7/10

No, thankfully. I probably would have went insane working with types like this. I'm just an English major with a focus on technical writing and editing, along with a bunch of desktop publishing under my belt. It's the only aspect of an English major guaranteed to make any money, but you need to have a penchant and passion for words and formatting and other bullshit. I've got the penchant, but not the passion, and IT was more lucrative out of school. Biggest boons from my major are I can write a solid resume without much effort, am a good editor, and scenes from movies like this trigger my autism.

Back to the scene: Allen's card looks better upon review, but that's because of the low lighting in the room they're in. If Allen's card were under a brighter (and white) light, it wouldn't look as good as it does.

Also one thing that's always bugged me about this scene is Bateman's card is "bone". Bone is a brownish or sometimes orangey white, and is inelegant. He should have gone with ivory, especially using an embossed typeface. I think having used bone instead is a subtle nod to his grim demeanor, and the horribly off-center formatting is a nod to his unstable mind.

American Psycho was one of the very rare instances of the movie being superior to the book.

Patten. His name is bold, the text is readable and the texture is classic.

Definitely Van Patten
>Paul Allen's looks smudged on thin printer paper
>Bryce's font looks like it was chosen without any thought and has the texture pattern of gas station toilet paper
>Bateman's is getting there, with a good font and even looks embossed
>Van Patten tho, outstanding font, dark ink, and a good texture pattern that doesn't remind you of library printer paper or of wiping your ass
which I Would Do with Timothy Bryce's card

This. Van Patten's and Bryce's visible texture takes away from the centerpiece, being their names. Also the address block being one long line on each but Paul's doesn't mesh well with each other instance of text being 2 lines. It looks very soft and smooth to the touch, whereas everyone else's looks coarse and rough.

I wouldn't call it superior, hate to be that guy but it was pretty different. The book is an interesting read, albeit a little tedious with his crazy thought processes but there's more content to dig into. I wish the movie was a little longer or fleshed out.

The movie is a lot of fun because Bale does a great job with the character, the fact that it's been memed to be larger than life now makes it even better on rewatch

Because that shit doesn't matter. You don't see them do any actual work, they just fuck around.

Paul Allen's card. The lack of a texture makes it more susceptible to smudges, which begs to treat the card carefully, as a work of art would be. Van Patten's font choice is the best of the four, but the texture leaves it mundane and with a hard, unappealing touch to it. Bryce's font choice is horribly bland, but what Bateman does right in his font choice is destroyed by the disorienting margins that leave the numbers and address slanted to the left more than they should. Patrick's card has basic design flaws, Van Patten's has a bad texture, Bryce has bad typography (look at how forced the slightly thicker "T" looks on Timothy's name), but Paul Allen's retains style.
