It is a dex. But its built on cosmos in its own side chain. Since it is on cosmos, you can set up pairs between any tokens that cosmos has pegs for. IE you can trade eth for btc straight up. No need for wrapped assests. Additionally it is an order book so it will function just like a centrailzed exchange. You can also do derivates such as futures trading.
Oh and they let you short sell and leverage up to 20x.

I have a huge inj bag but I do think there will always be a demand for centralised exchanges and custodial crypto services. Having got a few of my normie friends into crypto I can say with confidence that normies do not at all the idea of being responsible for their own security. They would much rather just have an exchange they can log into that takes care of security for them, and there's nothing wrong with that.
