Knowing when to use wicks or not takes a bit of experience and critical thought. I try not to have my lines work on ALL timeframes, but rather only on the timeframes where they're meaningful and applicable. If I'm drawing a long term pattern or trend, I use daily or weekly candles and ignore the wicks. Wicks are more meaningful as confirmed rejections on long term candles because long term candles filter out more volatility and meaningless "noise". If there's a big wick on 1w candles, its because a price tried to cross a level and was soundly rejected. If theres a giant wick on the 1h, it can be because of manipulation or a big market order.

If i'm drawing short term trendlines or minor levels, I'm a bit more flexible and how and when to include wicks but restrict them to 1h-4h candles; I don't use those trendlines for macro patterns. You just have to be critical about what the wicks are actually showing the price doing, whether there were any extenuating circumstances like a flash wick from a huge market order or exchange error, or if there were some news event / black swan event that caused a temporary deviation from a trend and "broke" the trendline. There is no one fixed way to draw in TA, and you have to approach it thoughtfully every time. For example, it's entirely possible that the KYC regulation scare drove BTC off of an upward trend that would've broken 20k. Now we've regressed back to the trend from the massive dip caused by a news scare, forming an almost unnoticeable wick on the 1w, but forms on the 1d what many people are afraid is a bull trap

Another important thing to remember is that wicks embody short term volatility and "noise". Such that chart wicks can vary greatly from exchange to exchange, but the candle bodies tend to be more or less the same. I follow a few different charts for the same pairs but on different exchanges. Coinbase tends to have a lot less volatility and smaller wicks, while Binance has much more aggressive wicks.
