Because it actually poses a genuine threat and there’s big companies vested in it. First party oracles >

the true threat that it poses isn't just to Chainlink, but to decentralization as a whole. It goes against the very nature of crypto currency, against the possibility of a free market of data, and against the ultimate truth that could be cryptocurrency. Chainlink must make it or crypto is doomed to be controlled by the giant multinationals that provide the data that feeds it.

I invested in API3 this morning at $1.07

Can't tell if trolling or not. But API3 DAO decides which API providers provide data to the dAPIs. It's a direct business connection with the off-chain world.

Because it proves nodes aren't needed. If nodes aren't needed, the LINK token is worthless.

and thereby it centralizes the flow of data through the hands of a few players. At maturity, the Chainlink network will become a decentralized entity that finds the absolute truth through game theory; consensus and economic incentives. It's the byzantine general's solution to true data.

At most the API3 DAO can cut off a dishonest player, but with a consensus mechanism, false data would be eliminated from the start.

you don't even see them reach a consensus now. all the price feeds have large variance and are skewed

>>24423302
how do you even converge on a single price or single weather temperature? it's relatively easy to converge on a yes/no answer, but with other data types it's not clear what consensus would entail.

You are a complete retard if you think a single person with a brain considers this a threat to chainlink.

The network is still in its infancy, I'm talking end game here.

>>24423584
I'd imagine it would look something like an average with deviations outside a particular range being discarded as false data. The function doesn't have to be set in stone, I'm sure there are many methods to achieve a consensus based oracle on various types of data; finding them is part of the evolution of the network

Guys it's infront of your eyes, So many people are going to miss out on x1000 with Chainlink/TheGraph because they think a meme whitepaper killers are a better investment. The game already won. It's 100% over.
