Own a trezor One. Just bought ledger x.
The trezor is nice with it's exodus integration, but the build quality isn't exactly what I'd prefer. Definately go with the metal trezor if you're going to buy one.

You are an idiot if you use one for most of your portfolio(unless youre an exchange or have 1mil+). Just diversify your money between coinbase pro and FTX. There is no way they both get hacked and also, they are both insured so you get money back if they lose it. Cold wallets are just a way to put a target on your back and lose private keys. Trust me, I've lost a decent amount to losing seeds/pins before and never thought it would happen to me but it did

Nowadays I don't see the added benefit from buying a dedicated hardware wallet.

IMO, an old and/or cheap factory reset general purpose device that stays eternally offline is far superior. Like an old Android phone or tablet or an old laptop.

You can get an Android tablet for $50 (cheaper than a hardware wallet), put Electrum on it, put Electrum on your online Android phone and do a cold storage setup that way. Seed and master private key is encrypted on the offline tablet, master public keys is on the hot phone.

Unsigned transactions to the tablet and signed transaction from the tablet can be transported via QR-codes, which is actually more secure than physically plugging a hardware wallet into your hot machine.

If you need shitcoin support, though, buy either a Trezor or a Ledger. If you buy a Ledger buy it through a proxy-mailer, to a non-resident address of yours, use a burner e-mail that doesn't leak your real name and demand in written form as soon as you have your Ledger in your possession, that Ledger Inc. deletes all your identifying personal data. These idiots leak that shit constantly and sooner or later someone will show up at one of their customers doors with a gun and demand the corn.

EVERYTHING can go bust. That's why have a seed backup.

Preferably, you have 3 different offline devices and make a 2-of-3-multi-sig, which is really easy to do with Electrum. Or 5 different offline devices and make a 3-of-5-multi-sig.
