The government will try. Doesn't mean that they'll succeed.
They'll do nothing until they realize it is too late. Over a fifths of dollar bills were printed this year alone. This will bite us back and it is already.
The world is losing trust in the dollar, and oil is dropping like crazy. As countries shift to less fossil fuels, demand will go down bring petrol and the dollar down.

At that point, they'll either come up with a breakthrough that convinces people to jump back, or perish.
One such idea would be some fiat crypto where the fed doesn't print money, but rewards miners from the general public to mine a specific amount the fed needs mined.
For this transition to take place, there would probably be a window for people to trade their bills for FedCoin, but the Fed is still filled with boomers, so no need to worry about this for the next several decades at least unless something big happens.
