24385726 No.24385726 [Reply] [Original]

Right now governments of the world are moving to throttle every smart-contract-bearing and anonymous crypto. The confirmation of plans came in the form of Brian Armstrong's public tweets... as much of a fair warning as you can be expected to receive.

In case you are wondering here are the reasons.

1. Crypto circumvents the existing money system. That means evasion of money controls, and where these controls are tactical and diplomatic, that means you are literally crossing the power structures of political control around the world.

2. The way they have been fighting it is with creeping regulation, starting with exchanges and money exchange operators with KYC.

3. Since all crpyto Tx is basically being tracked and analysed, each fiat gateway will have to affirm the coming tenets of regulation, freezing account balances where coins have moved through mixers, into and out of smart contracts, between parties where an intermediate address is associated with dirty crypto. Did you "provide liquidity" on uniswap? Congrats, you helped launder drug money. Your crypto is now dirty.

4. If you have ETH in a wallet and its chain of custody connects in some way to ETH which was used in any of these circumstances, it is on a "black list".

5. Anything minted in a smart contract is going to go to zero, including the market cap of tether, "platforms" like waves, xrp, any ICO, and "services" like chainlink.

6. Privacy coins will go to 0. There is no viable way for them to survive.

Assets being sold into bitcoin is going to drive its price past prior ATH, along with the supply being effectively halved again because of blacklisting balances.

yes, what most don't realize is that the elite always provide themselves a "way out" thats entirely legal and accessible to all except its expensive.

for instance, I promise 99.5% of this board doesn't understand that none of the "kyc / reporting" bullshit applies to American Gold Eagle coins....to other coins and other bullion yes, but Gold Eagles are completely untracked and free of reporting.

Likewise, BTC more/less is going to take that role crypto wise. Yes transactions will cost $100 each, but no different than the carrying cost of transporting and dealing with physical gold.

Shitcoins will be allowed to exist but will heavily monitored and controlled at every level.

Once taproot is fully integrated in 2021 BTC will gain enough privacy features that it will be "good enough" privacy for 99.999% users

Coinbase and other CEXs have always provided miners with the bridge to capital. If you bought and paid fees on crypto from coinbase you bought clean coins. Armstrong is telegraphing what is coming down. The powers that be have based decades of diplomacy and order around existing money controls. Its no secret that Iran and Vanazuela, etc., are using crypto to circumvent these controls. Cryptos are priced in fiat terms. Armstrength knows every step of the business model since 2016 is in jeopardy. Like a Judo match, their point of control are these point of sale and fiat gateways. You can do a stepwise analysis to end up where I'm at.

2016: coinbase sells nothing but bitcoin
2017: adds eth, KYC/AML. Countries begin crypto repression. Banks being speeding up the cbdc inititatives. International NGOs analyse crpyto policy
2018: proliferation of rules and laws relating to money exchange, taxation, movement and anti money-laundering.
2019: Analytics matures. They now have proof and knowledge of the vast amounts of dirty money in the system, who is holding and what its used for
2020: They start dropping hints. Accounts are frozen. Fiat can't escape. There are no remaining gateways out of the system. Peripheral markets finally touched. The encirclement is complete
2021: Regulations descend in every jurisdiction. Customers sure Coinbase for release of funds. Court discovery reveals extent of money laundering & extent of dirty money. Asset in seizure. Assets in forfeiture. Mass delisting of noncompliant coins. Possible bankruptcies. Et.c,
2022 and on: Dirty money continuing being locked out. A whole new legal paradigm for cryptos and bitcoin established. New ground rules lead to new "innovations" leading to recovery bullruns in surviving coins, for surviving, tradeable balances. Everyone else is just sitting there with a stranded asset.

This is a reason to have wealth in crypto. If the governments ever condemned crypto markets by shutting off fiat on/off ramps, then the only way to gain entrance to crypto will be by selling goods and services to crypto holders. Why would people want to sell goods and services for illegal crypto? Because the alternative is a digital dollar where every transaction is automatically and arbitrarily taxed by the IRS all while suffering horrific inflation.
Read up on the history of government controlled economies. They all have black markets where the currency is something other than their government's depreciating fiat. What's more is the government has no choice but to let these black markets flourish since they are responsible for keeping the population fed.
The choice is clear. Trust the government bureaucrats to not harm you too much or place your wealth out of their reach entirely. The propaganda the governments with their media corporations will launch to scare crypto holders into making the first choice will be severe and effective. Just know that no amount of dollars will protect you from government goons.

to further explain the game-theory at play.....

because of the institutional interests you mention, there will be some decent country (singapore, korea, japan, malta, switzerland, etc) that are willing to bank crypto users in defiance of globalhomo rules.

this fact is what will keep globalhomo rules in check in that squeezing too hard just makes it evaporate from their control completely.

If exchanges ban all privacy coins like XMR & XHV, you can still buy DCR since it has a feeless, no kyc DEX and devs are now working on making it compatible with ETH. You will be able to trade everything without ever having to put money into an exchange. The biggest problem will be aquiring cryptos in the first place. Make sure you have money in BTC ETH DCR by the time this happens because after that, fiat onramps might be a lot more strict

This sounds a bit over the top. But I have no problem with this as long as the law isnt retroactive. Which is pretty rare, anyway.

What I'm saying is that the law is already in place. When you analyze a chain of transactions, all you're looking at is subject to laws regardless of any kind of statute of limitations. The law is pretty clear for all things involving dirty money. No one thinks about it, and there is little enforcement in the real world (ever buy a laptop and try to establish a chain of custody?) But in crypto, its literally made of chains that establish custody.

>>24388391
Imagine two worlds. One is connected to fiat gateways and the other is like a snow-globe. Every address in it is barred from accessing the 1st sphere. You can play with your coins in the snow globe, but the two never mix. If they mix, they get frozen/barred/excluded from the 1st ecosystem. Can DCR establish their own gateways? No. Can it? Show me one jurisdiction in 2020 where its possible to have a formal relationship between DCR governance (a bunch of anon addresses) and an actual bank.
