The guy you reply to is a case study though. His “understanding” of how markets work is pretty much what you will come away with if you come to /biz/ with very little knowledge, and then treat this board as social media. If you try to figure out how to become a “popular poster” you will end up talking about “bogs”, “shoeshine boys”, “retail” and (((them))), but have no perception of the 85% cheeky bants that are the underlying for these staple derivatives.
If 4chan came under serious attack from the tptb, these guys would be the first to jump on the chance to defend the board, eager to improve their local social credit score, but after seeing the “defense” you’d be embarrassed enough to never return.
These are people who never care about the domain, but are only after “fitting in” and then climb in the social hierarchy. They are in fact very much like stereotypical women. Even anonymity isn’t enough of a hint for them not to try to turn any setting they find themselves in into a social networking effort.
