is the ledger nano X that much better than the nano S? you can a nano 2 for only 36 bucks brand new for black friday which is dirt cheap, but you can also get the nano x for like 75.

just wondering is the X is that much better and easy to use?

>> No.24370193

I personally ordered the x. I view the nano s as a nigger version

Why would anyone buy a ledger product.
>Closed Source
>Servers recently got hacked
enjoy getting scams using your real name, real address and real phone number.
There is a reason why Ledger is 40% off, Trezor is 20% off, and ColdCard is 15% off.

Everything is used the same exact way, it's a determination of whether you're fine with uninstalling and reinstalling apps or if you couldn't bother with it.
There's also the superstition of the X using bluetooth to connect, which some believe will compromise it, in which just use the cable it comes with if you're that terrified.
When ordering, make sure you put a fake name and use a PO box, as well as a burner phone number and email, recently a few customers got their info leaked through a workaround that wasn't caught quick enough.

Might sound dumb, but is a cold wallet really worth it if I just have $9k on an exchange?

i dont have a PO bock or Burner. if I just got a nano S to have on hand, do you think its a big deal? im not personally dealing with more than a few thousand dollars worth of crypto

>>24370448
Do you expect the value of your investments to rise? Its fucking suicide to leave you coins on an exchange, have you not seen coinbase drain people's trades, kucoin hacked, binance lockups and exchange servers go down? At the very least use a software wallet like exodus or something while you wait for a hardware wallet

>> No.24370545

>>24370448
i dont have much more than that either, but its not worth keeping anything on an exchange to long really. you never know what might happen. a few exchanges have been hacked and people lost everything. I had a couple thousand in crypto I kept on Cryptopia and when they got hacked I lost it all.

i currently have a wallet on my Iphone, but i want somthing separate I can keep at my house in case my phone gets stolen or somthing.

>> No.24370806

>>24370448
Once I made even $1k in crypto I got a ledger, I couldn't imagine not having one when it costs a small fraction of your net worth.

>>24370468
Use mail.com or something for a quick burner email, and google voice/whatsapp for a burner number. With the S, as long as you have a micro usb cable it works the same way the X does. There's not much difference besides having to uninstall and reinstall apps for a few seconds if you have multiple coins. If it's just a few coins or even just erc20s, there's no point in getting an X besides slightly easier usage.

Thanks bros. Because I don't have a cold wallet (and because Coinbase is likely trying to do a misdirect), I havent read much into the rumors about Mnuchin's possible regulations. How would it impact cold wallet holders?

Bluetooth has been intrinsically compromised for decades. The only real risk would be some kind of malware that was able to replace your the send/receive addresses on the LCD, I guess.

Why bother with ledgers. nobody wants your $500 in eth. Metamask is fine. Or just hold your ARPA + Bella protocol on Binance. funds are safu and you get staking on the exchange.

>> No.24371518

Depends on the exchange, and your own ability to not get your account hacked. Coinbase protects your assets in the event that they are compromised. However, if your own account is broken into and funds drained, they won't refund you.
