I think it had to do with FUD concerning Bitcoin and Ethereum in 2017, and new and improved governance models being some solution to their perceived issues and thus a shilling point.. It made sense as a shilling point in 2017, that with great governance models that might be some edge from a long term perspective... Something like that anyways....
