How do I know if I'm a somewhat savvy investor or a retard who only had luck so far? I'm managing my mother's and sister's portfolio and am terrified of losing them money. I'm diversifying, checking the stock's reports, betting on trends etc and have been doing pretty good so far but am still concerned.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to invest in Palantir. IBKR is the best since it's the only one that doesn't charge $50 or something if your options get assigned
but most people probably just have their TFSA with their bank and questrade. Usually $5-$10 flat fee per trade, $1/contract on options (yes i know)
The only reason we put up with these commissions is because of how easy it is to trade stocks and options tax-free in Canada

IBKR will reduce commission fees to a more reasonable $1 to $3 per trade, but most people can't use it because US$45K income requirement on margin or something. Also US$100K minimum unless you want to pay a small inactivity fee (still much better than paying $10 for a single trade though)
I'm moving to IBKR once GME is over, can't risk having my account locked up in a transfer right now though
