Yeah NYC is within commuting distance of parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. PA is cheap and has good gun laws but you're still an hour and a half away at the absolute minimum. Connecticut is closer and cheaper than NY but the gun laws are shittier than PA. NY has the shittiest gun laws of all three and is expensive so there aren't many benefits other than proximity to the city and getting to say that you live in NY. I really like Putnam County but i'm thinking that if I go up there I might as well just move over the border into Connecticut. New Jersey is just out of the question for me

I've always found this map interesting and somewhat stupid unironically. So high iq is based off a testing system that was created by a system of people who are "High IQ". I consider myself well travelled and have visited basically every major metro america in the US except for LA and SF because theres no way in hell im moving to California.

Pittsburgh is most likely where I'm moving to after I make it as the city center is nice, clean, has a lot of theaters and culture in general, good food, decent sports teams, and a high amount of Jewish girls which i have a terrible thing for. the area is sort of rich which keeps the assholes out but houses in the suburbs are still pretty cheap. My other choice is anywhere in southern New Hampshire, Boston would be your "city" but youre still far enough removed from everything that its cheap to live, still have good access to wilderness and skiing, less minorities, and good tax laws. depends on what you like more, city or rural life.

trust me when i say this; the midwest and west is a meme. youre going to overpay for any decent ranch house because their basic standard of living is a doublewide trailer on the side of a very busy highway since they didnt build enough infrastructure to keep up with population growth in the past 20 years. its also being overrun with hispanics and mormons who are all weird in one way or another and have way too many kids that drive up the prices of everything. the PNW is nice near the coast but very expensive because once you get out of the city centers youre dealing with some of the worst trailer trash hicks ive ever met in my life, the kind to ride your ass and shoot popguns at you even though youre doing 10 over the speed limit. theyre extremely territorial and if they find out youre from out of state they will treat you worse. there is a reason Seattle and Washington state have two separate football teams, its because the two sides of the state hate each other, and the right sides of WA and OR hate everyone who isnt them.

It was during the early stages of my career I was trying to amass as much wealth as possible to set myself up. Time value of money is big. If money isn't an issue, then California is the obvious answer. Politics aside it's easily the best climate in the US and has just about every amenity you'd want. It would need to be on the outskirts of a major city if you want to avoid the urban sprawl, but I'm not much of a city person anyways.
Runner-up would be Washington D.C. proper (not NOVA or Maryland, but 3 blocks from the Capitol building/Smithsonians/etc).
