Did anyone with a Ledger receive an email today claiming of a ledger hack and to update ledger live because cryptos can potentially be stolen?

It looks pretty legit from Ledger. These scammers are fucking good.

>> No.24191100

Pretty telling how many people have posted online thinking the email was real. Hardware wallets really need to dumb things down and also probably stop getting hacked for customer info.

ledger live update itself from its gui, no need to download any new files. same goes for firmware - all using ledger live frontend.
if you dont have ledger live already, download it only from legit ledger website, check certificates etc.

additionally i think all ledger emails begin with your first name, not a 'Dear Client'

>> No.24192025

>>24191720
DONT click on that link at all. Too fishy and even more so it deals with your money in a direct way.

What’s the email it’s sending from? Does Ledger have an official support email or phone link? If so you can ring them up and confirm that email if it’s fake or not.

How does this even work? It shouldn't matter if the software is malware, how could it steal your coins on your wallet? Or does it send to a different address and they hope people don't check their ledger to verify the sending to address is correct?

from what i can tell are optional - fundamental functions should work regardless, upgrades are there to introduce new safety and user features

The keys are generated by the physical wallet itself. Ledger does not have any way to access your coins, so their database leak can not affect the security of your funds.
On the other hand, downloading a shady Ledger live might mean that it will try to change the sending addresses to ones the scammer controls. So if you're not paying attention to the address on the OLED display, you might send them to the cunt.
