24186627 No.24186627 [Reply] [Original]

Welcome to XMR General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading privacy-coin!
Because Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, people can easily send money despite corrupt and broken governments or banks. This provides economic empowerment of individuals in oppressive countries or depressed economies.
Private financial history protects consumers and companies from price manipulation, supply chain exploitation, economic discrimination, or the like. Monero is the only cryptocurrency that has the features to serve as completely fungible, decentralized, electronic cash.
If you're new, feel free to ask any questions you like and a Monero Chad will be with you shortly.

generating ZKP's for a smart contract would be incredibly resource heavy. I remember reading a write up on it a while back.
Tari isn't quite a smart contract platform, but it has tokenized assets at least.

yeah looks like the pressure is finally getting to the ratio. might be a monster week.

what are my monero chads doing for short term (3 month span) trades?
If we continue to struggle and stay in the 0.007 range, I will just continue to DCA each month as usual. However I think we are going to shoot up past a previous yearly BTC ratio high and test the 0.013 - 0.02 range before a healthy market wide correction (I believe Bitcoin will go down to ~10k, thereby taking the entire market with it).
i'm marking 0.013, 0.015, 0.018, and 0.02 as selling points on the ratio. overall if this BTC ratio ends up really kicking I'm looking to trade ~20% of my Monero stack into Bitcoin, and then as the ratio corrects I'll go back into Monero, thereby adding to my stack.
Worst case scenario I'll hold some Bitcoin. Best case scenario I'll can add a decent amount to my Monero stack if the Btc ratio drops again below 0.01. I'll of course be trading on the way down as well to hedge against risk.

non kyc exchanges like tradeogre and kucoin work (the latter just got hacked but I believe they are running...don't keep your xmr on an exchange obviously).
>>24194655
my opinion is that the 4 year cycle meme isn't going to hold up this time around, and that we still have another year of testing the 20k area before liftoff really happens. I don't think the mania is even close to how it was in 2017. You are absolutely right about the investment pouring in and this is a big factor in the next bull run. But with that new investment you are underestimating how many people are looking at this run up as a selling opportunity, or alternatively, how many are going to want to manipulate the markets to bring the price back down to capitalize on the opportunity of increasing their stack. You will start seeing sell walls, and once resistance is really met people are going to start to sell back down.
Long term, a correction to the 20 week will be real positive for bitcoin. But, short term bubbles can happen and we could fly by, so you might be right.

Maybe. Monero will still have better privacy, and will be more secure because it's on chain. The part that can't be answered is whether or not lightning's privacy features will be considered good enough by most people. Only time will tell, and there is a reason bitcoin is valued so much higher than monero right now.

It's highly unlikely. LN has a really long way to go and Bitcoin maxis are coping when they say this will solve their issues with privacy as it is currently vaporware and in need of a lot more development. One issue already known is that any time a channel is created, an adversary who knows you are connected to an address will know the funds going in and coming out of the payment channel. So even if the privacy on the second layer works as advertised, you will be dealing with this factor, which I think would lead to a centralization of LN channels.
I want lightning network to succeed, but Bitcoin will need to rely on atomic swaps for true privacy. Monero works as advertised right now.
