"About £14bn could be raised by cutting exemptions and doubling rates, according to the review, which was commissioned by Chancellor Rishi Sunak. "

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54908037

Capital gains tax in bongland is likely to double next spring just as the next crypto bull run begins. I don't feel so good fellow bongs...

>Be me
>Spend years studying a mathematically intensive degree
>Become unemployed because the country is a shithole
>Have to pay for government's fuck ups if I ever cash out because I was smart enough to put a bit of money in crypto
>Still going to be unemployed because all the decent jobs are taken by low iq retards whose wages I'm now subsidizing

What's the fucking point in even trying?

Lets not forget the £10bn they pocketed through nepotistic public sector contracts during the pandemic. Oh while we're at it let's increase military spending by the largest margin since the Iraq war. Tax hikes due to irresponsible and corrupt public spending started the last civil war and it'll start another one.

Chancellor Sunak only cares about the London banking elite and nobody else, he doesn't even try to hide it. He's literally a billionaire who's worked for Goldman and various hedge funds.

The whole uk economy is just one big money laundering operation where rich people from overseas send their money to the city of london which acts as the central gateway to the uk's network of overseas tax havens. The politcians and elites have decimated this country, destroying any real industry while they continue to take advantage of their connections to dodge paying taxes. I have no reason to give a fuck about this shithole society, I'm all for fighting back if they try and tax me more but I doubt enough bongs would to make anything of it. The typical bongs I see are lazy and the younger generation are becoming more and more left wing. They'll protest over the next bullshit social justice that the media tries to promote but never against tax increases.

You're absolutely right. I generally get the impression that no-one gives a shit or is even remotely aware of the state the country is in. Journalism has failed us, your fellow countryman is too distracted to care and probably not educated enough to understand. Overhearing people in public talking about politics makes you realise just how braindead and schizoid the public is.

Politicians and the media keep drilling it into people's heads that this country is somehow world beating and has a place at the top of international table. A country is fundamentally made up of its people and the average brit is poorly educated due to how bad our schools are. They also possess a series of shit political, economic and social beliefs that just hold them back in life. It's hard to imagine a "world beating" country with such a low quality population. Having realised this I now cringe whenever a bong starts acting all proud as if we're in the same league as countries like america or japan. It just comes off as pretentious.

This is apparently what a "post industrial" economy is meant to look like. The uk is over reliant on financial services that justice serves itself and not the wider economy. None of the money that flows into the city of london is used to invest in bongland. It's not like say America which still actually has some advanced industry and people invest in wall street for access to tech stocks and real wealth generators. People just park cash in bongland to dodge tax elsewhere.

>>24132564
I went to a top 20 university and passed with a decent grade. I even taught myself a bit of coding in my spare time. Just because you're well educated in this country doesn't guarentee you a decent job. If you know the right people and have connections it helps but I don't have that sort of background. I also blame the recruitng process. Employers outsourcing their recruitment and using half assed video interviews and psychometric tests that ask questions that don't relate to the job have wrecked the graduate hiring process. There are going to be a percentage of graduates like me who slip through the cracks and never get a foot on the graduate job ladder. After a couple of years employers arn't interested in hiring someone who has been out of work for a while and I'm too overqualified to get even a minimum wage job.

We will see tax increases, it is inevitable that and inflation evosion. They are unlikely to increase income tax as you can't win elections by doing that.

However, capital gains is an easy kill since most normies never have to deal with it.

I have no answer to crypto, but all of my equity investments are inside ISAs for a reason...

We are a consumer society but we are not the only country in Europe or the West that is or is now going do that route. Most of Europe has been on life support with 0-0.5% interest rates for over a decade to encourage reckless spending. Nothing new.

The ones to lose will be wagies, just tax plan correctly. Crypto is a difficult one as there aren#t any tax shelters to hold it, unless you just don't report your gains which is an option but makes it impossible to cash out safely.

>> No.24133360

>>24133075
This is impossible to achieve. The more you pursue this the more you tax the normal folk.

1% hold wealth though business interests, very little of their actual wealth generation is in taxble assets and that of what is is usally within the business interests so tax is deducted from business activity.

This usally isn't even dodging, its just paying a accountant. Even I plan my taxes though a shell company to reduce the UK tax burden on income tax.

Poor people pay income tax at 50%, clever people use a shell company to channel funds then pay themself though a diviend at 20% with still 2k tax-free and the normal 12k income allowance.

The Conservative party is conservative only in name.

It's better to name them the Liberal party. They are the "least bad" party to vote for in the "first past the post" election system.

Its them, or Labour who are unhinged lefties in 2020.

That's what I'm trying to do and now the government is coming to tax me 40% on any gains I make. Whenever you sell any crypto I think it is a taxable event, this completely fucks up my plans.

>>24133243
The government is over £2 trillion debt and it's just going to keep going up. Also, the bonglander public have the second highest external debt in the world after america. Hope they don't decide to come for your isa at some point.

>> No.24133534

I do not thing they will retro-actively change ISA rules, it makes little sense and would make them hugely unpopular (its the only type of savings normies use, including cash ISAs)

They will probs target the classic 30 year tax stuff, like Inheretence taxes directly. Then cut allowances for interest, CGT and diviends.

Governments at all costs avoid direct hikes, as I said before in the current 2020 world it's hugely unpopular in consumer societies and ones such as ours. People can't think, they will just see tax increase bad I vote left now. (lol)

I still believe they will pay off the debt through Q/E, just like in 2008. Possibly start cutting benefits and other gibs (but not for migrants, just for normal citizens)

Out of curiosity what kind of stocks are you investing in with your ISA? The london stock market is pretty trashy in my opinion. The FTSE 100 has gone sideways for two decades now which is a sign that this country has struggled to grow. American stocks are better but I read that the dollar might devalue by upto 20% next year. Right now stocks and cash are a no go for me and why I got into crypto.
