but it's not really secure. the manner in which most people handle their private keys makes it very insecure. aside from that, gold at least has some intrinsic value. bitcoin is energy expensive and better alternative exist. the cost of transacting will keep going up as the block reward decreases. bitcoin fits the definition of "liability" almost perfectly.
