Ironic thread edition, I was just about to ask about Yugoslav silver. I can’t find any 1930’s silver 100 Dinara on eBay, just cupro-nickel and these Olympic proof coins from the 80’s isn’t my thing. Where would I be able to find a silver one from the 30’s? And is there any other royal Yugoslav silver coins?

Your question was actually the inspiration for the Edition. I did some more research: the coin you see pictured there is a 50 dinara, the last circulating silver coin in Yugoslavia. It was minted into the late 1930s.
Prior to WWI, there were other lower denominations of Silver coins and even some Gold ones.

pmg is a great contrarian indicator, it really feels like we're nearing the bottom of the correction. Expecting a dump next week on options expiry then we get wave 5 soon. Bitcoin which has traded with correlation to gold since Powell bent the knee has ended it's correction and broken out. CBDC and stimulus just beyond the horizon.

Wouldn't call it a cheap royalty stock anymore, but they're a pretty great company. they have a royalty for Fosterville which might be the best royalty out there right now, and they also have the Cortez Trend royalty for the Barrick and Newmont jv in Nevada.
I haven't comfirmed it but I hear they're silver heavy which I think you'd probably want to be for the next year at minimum. I'd buy them. Also a big fan of EMX and I think they'll perform well. Rick Rule called them the pound for pound smartest team out there.

I see your point that it's not always 1:1 but generally speaking there is tracking with higher beta right? I guess the question is when is there tracking and leverage, and when isn't there and why.

>if the dollar crashes gold and silver won't be worth shit. Bullets might be.

I agree with the idea. in SHTF scenarios I'd put so many things first before precious metals. However I see a lot of scenarios of dollar crash where gold and silver are great assets; are you saying dollar crash scenarios are all SHTF scenarios?

>I guess the question is when is there tracking and leverage, and when isn't there and why.
for miners to rise metals have to be up and industrial demand (i.e. the Dow) has to be up at the same time

otherwise they won't rise.

a rise in price alone represents speculation with no underlying industrial demand, so miners don't upshift. A rise in demand but not price is no incentive to increase production until price catches up.

both of these situations need to last long enough for known reserves to be exploited, usually 6 months for an existing operation and up to 3 years for a mine not in production.

and while it takes months to years of bull markets to start new mines, it only takes a couple months of a bear market to shut them down. Thus the lag in miners. We take forever to open up, but close in a matter of seconds.

>most junior miners go bankrupt, even in bull markets
Your honestly right about this, but what I have noticed lately the past two years is there are way less truely "shit" juniors on the market lately. I remember ten years ago reading about dozens of these tiny dumpster fire closet office explorers that would pop up and die off within a year or so, I am just not seeing as many of these on my radar. Of course they might just be in jurisdictions I dont usually look at but here in BC and Canada there are way less of them than I ve ever seen.

Regarding your /out/ post on my uncle's Rogue River gold--

I live in a town with a classic primary ore deposit and the usual accompanying supergene

we have on top iron-gold (rose gold), followed by yellow, pure gold, and then white silver-gold, and at the bottom green gold (copper-gold). Much like the black hills gold, we have all of the colors in a single mine or ore body.

we used to have a cottage industry of jewelers that made pieces of muli-colored Leadville gold, just like the Black Hills gold. I'd love to see you do something similar with your collection, that would be beautiful. Our stuff commands a premium of 1000X or higher just for the rarity of the location material. Yours would be unique and really cool.

you literally have to crush it to molecular levels without breaking, spalling, and rolling before treating it with aqua regia. I think for real estate there will be a dip soon, as businesses are going bankrupt due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Thereby, remote working will be the new norm, removing the demand for office buildings and living spaces in cities (e.g. look at New York right now). So what I think will happen is that they will convert office buildings to living spaces into apartments. Further increasing supply, pushing down the price. It may even coincide with a peak in precious metals (silver $50 - $100), so that is the time to sell PM’s and go to real estate. I am just spitballing, wat are thoughts on that?

Real estate is completely out of whack with incomes as a result of govt intervention making debt too cheap.

The perception is that they always go up, which they do because the debt to purchase them gets continually cheaper pumping the price while reinforcing the perception that this trend will continue forever. It works great so long as the govt continues with pumping these markets, but it's like entering a suicide pact with Uncle Sam.

I think no matter what they'll intervene to save real estate buy printing to forgive loans, keep rate low, and buy up securities, There's simply too many people who will lose everything and riot if they don't. But it has diminishing returns, and at a certain point inflation will catch up with this scheme and outpace how fast they can pump these asset prices with cheap debt.

So the next trick will be to pump people's incomes via UBI. Govt seems to think that's now the best way to insure continued inflation.

>>if the dollar crashes gold and silver won't be worth shit. Bullets might be.

contradiction. to establish a new fiat currency you'll need something to back it. gdr had aluminum chips called "mark" and you could pay your rent with them (state was the landlord) and buy basic food. if you wanted to pay a plumber you needed deutsch mark, us dollar or rare products. precious metals were better money than the shitty fiat. fiat currencies have a lot of benefits of course but only if state and economy are in good shape. the next time bitcoin crashes people will realize it has become a scam. i was really enthusiastic about crypto currencies first. but today i am more than skeptical. bitcoin/crypto tading is tulip mania 2.0. there is no demand for any crypto. of course central banks are working on cbdc but only to continue bring the game on the next level with mmt. cryptos will be regulated and taxed to death and they will be forbidden.
> inb4 you cannot forbid decentralized shitcoins hahahaha
when they kick out cash and implement cbdc they can enforce whatever tax they want. and although cryptos claim to be decetralized and what ever they run on mostly state owned infrastructure and if you look at the full nodes you see it's a much smaller number than users. how many full nodes exist world wide? 50k? most of them in china and the us. the internet is hierarchically organized and the governments will always be able to block traffic for most users and they'll always be able to get their hands on the operators of data centers / mining farms. sorry to say that but crypto is inferior to fiat and both are inferior to gold and silver.

that was a fear i had but than you'll at least have the material value determined by the superior products you can create with them. some of the most important and excellent products contain pm or would contain more pm if they were cheaper (e.g. prostheses or electronics). i think there are efforts to brain program the public to forget the value of pm but that won't be effective. people found the value of pm throughout history. the success of pm as currency throughout history came from their characteristics. every other currency mankind tried (e.g. rare clams, glass pearls, paper) rotted away or inflated or crashed otherwise. what i try to say is that people will either value pm because they learn unbacked paper money has no value the hard way (they will see the sell off of assets into pm during a crash) or the natural superiority of pm as materials together with the supply and demand mechanism (and the resulting increased valuation in a free market) will increase their value if productivity increases. it's hard to express for me but the value of pm is naturally tied to productivity of mankind. of course if you are alone and lost in the desert incapable of doing anything and you would give everything for a glass of water and a ticket out of that hell. but the natural binding with productivity is a garantor to make pm money over time again. there was a reason they created the fake paper markets for silver to supress the price of productivity.

the host rock is a hydrothermal quartz deposit between a metamorphosed biotite schist and some nice Colorado granite

after the quartz infill crystalized we saw vugs fill with iron/gold first in the form of cubic pyrite with interlaced gold. Then came gold/silver/lead crystals in a cubic form. Again, wire gold first with galena and silver intermixed in cubic forms over top

finally we had some nice chalcopyrite overlain with very little gold or silver or lead, but traces of zinc. Mostly along the granitic horizon

If you come to Colorado I can show you all this first hand on the mountain and in the rock. But the gold wires crystals are really the main attraction. The rest is just details.

not right now of course. This mine sits at 12000 feet and is under 6 feet of snow right now. But come spring.

if you're interested in temporal geology we have a granitic dome from the laramide orogeny that cooled and fractured along fault lines

those fault lines were infilled with a siliceous dike, forming the primary matrix. Shortly after that we had primary deposits of iron sulfide and gold, followed by gold/silver/lead. All of this was completed before the end of the Tertiary as is traditional. We don't call it the Tertiary anymore though, it's now the Paleogene. But the name doesn't matter. That's when most gold mines on Earth were deposited.

Interesting stuff. I'll have to first start reading about mining-related geology before I can grasp anything of what you said. I was guessing quartz due to the white color of the rocks but I guess that's the most basic level of understanding one can have. I'll have to read up on the books posted by that Bong anon in an earlier thread.
>If you come to Colorado I can show you all this first hand on the mountain and in the rock
Haha, if I come over to the USA some time in the future I'll try to remember that. I'd be glad to see a professional in action. But right now, I'm just far too ignorant and more importantly, far too poor to think about stuff like that. Will have to educate myself and get a profession first, probably something engineering-related or the like. Maybe in the field of chemistry, geology, planning or construction

I can simplify what i said pretty easily, it's mostly jargon to shut that other useless fucker up.

but it boils down to I saw a mountain made of rock and it had a white quartz vein in it next to some shiny black mica. In the quartz was some nice wire gold and crystal gold mixed with silver and lead and fool's gold.

how it came to be there is an interesting story, but very old and involving lots of hot water.

I'm actually not a fan of them just because I like .999/.9999 coins much more (Old silver markka's have a very low silver concentration, like 35%, later markka coins don't even have silver in them except commemorative coins). Silver Markka coins are very plentiful and available though, easy to get via internet auctions.
I guess I could scout a bit and see if I can cop a few for a cheap price, just for you anon. Or maybe I could go ask my grandparents, I'm sure they still have some around. Pic related is my latest purchase and it was a huge hit to my wallet so I'll try and hold off on physical purchases for a while at least. Definitely! It wasn't even valued badly, it weighs almost 900g and is made entirely of Sterling silver, and I paid 500€ for it. When you do the math it's a very fair price, and I'm not even sure I want to sell it anymore lol.
>Yeah 35% silver is a bit too low, it will cost to much to refine
We don't even have refineries where you can just march in and ask the guys to refine your silver like you guys do in NA. We do have ones where you can go sell your junk metal and get some money though but no place where you can go and ask them to make you a bar or something. Same goes for LCS', we don't have those. We do have some web stores that specialize in coins but those are too expensive. There's just too little demand for those things here. Whenever I decide to start selling some of my metals I'll have to either sell to a bullion dealer abroad (or get less money and sell to a bullion dealer here in Finland) or use an online auction website and sell the coins one by one
>but it is maybe worth for the historic value, no?
I guess there is some historical value but not much numismatic value at least over here in Finland. Everybody seems to have some Markka's lying around. Hell, I might have some hidden somewhere in my apartment too. The commemoratives have more silver in them and probably hold more value as collectibles too.
