Are bot traders able to see limit orders before they're fulfilled? For example, if the majority of limits are set to sell high, the bots can read the orders and sell their own positions before the human traders can, which forces the line down and the limit sell is never met. Is that why I can never sell high? Is this legal? And/or does this really happen?

PYPL started allowing buttcoin transactions after SQ did. Because of the weird legal status and regulations around buttcoin in finance, all transactions are reported as REVENUE. Analogous to if you gave a $20 bill to buy a stick of gum, that the business would record $20 as income (offset by deductions later) from that transaction.
Is the market literally so stupid and clowny that its going to pump at next PYPL earnings when they report a "surprise" revenue from this smoke and mirrors trick?
Should I embrace the clown and buy fucking PYPL calls?

Interesting, although I'd have to agree with you anon, as a short term trade for earnings its risky business in this clown market.

Even if they did really good in revenue, outlook is likely to say stupid shit about COVID and cause a sell. This is happening to alot of stocks on earnings, even when they are good in the clown market.

PayPal is a solid LONG term hold though (as in 5+ years). The company is strong in alot of ways and apart of many long term funds.

the actual worry is local governments putting out cuck regulations to fuck over airbnb
airbnb incentivizes people to buy out *multiple* real estate and rent them out through airbnb, it's definitely a huge problem in downtown areas where real estate is already overpriced as fuck
covid at least will just be a temporary thing.

This would all be acceptable risks if Airbnb was actually IPO'ing at a reasonable valuation. They're what, IPOing at $30 billion?

Nothing wrong with playaround money at 4 figs.

But once you reach higher numbers, I cannot see why anybody would want to bet money that keeps them out of wage slaving.

For me, as long as I don't have to wage-slave I am fine with the easy gains/long-term holdings. That way I can get on with the things that matter in life, or in my case get on with my actual real life business.

Investment risk on large holdings can ruin your mood, like alot more than I think most people know.

I didn't go to college. I landed a state govt job. Job security. Comes in handy especially in times like this. Whenever this virus shit is over with and they say "back to normal" I go back to work as if the previous months never happened. In the meantime I'm "semi retired". I still get paid in full; just work as needed. Go in a few hours. Spend rest of the time sitting on my ass at home. I'm able to retire in full in just 12 more years. 2032 and I walk.

Hear me out for a second. Some people may have heavy bags, but if you are not in yet now is probably the best time to get in. The stock tripled on news of their 2 billion dollar sale. Obviously this wasn't included in the last quarter. The spike in this company came to early IMO. The news of the deal will be made public mid February. If you aren't in my December I think the rocket will be launching without you.

no it's just what I call my video game cartridge collection. I have silver stacks and plastic ones. I have a lot of money in dumb retro games. my job is very flexible so it lets me play around on the markets during the day and I also wander around estate sales. it is always just a bit of money here and there but over years it has turned into something I'm a bit embarrassed about though I never pay more than 50% of the value for things. I should inventory and track it all and offload it I just keep convincing myself I will only do it once I have more and I am not going to drive to the post office for a single package or something. buy enough boxes like these though and you end up with 100+ consoles

great points for the tightening rules I dont think a federal law could do anything because gambling is one of the few things certain states refuse to give up their power to control. thats interesting I didnt know gaming pulled ahead that long ago. I think vidya is safe from regulations, until VR becomes mainstream regs wont do much other than probably create new cartels like how movies have insider groups. im starting to rethink how robust game growth will be but honestly what would replace it?

>>24103502
undervalued picks like this have the tendency to actually moon because they're already so oversold even before covid, like BBBY did with its earnings. And especially TUP

The problem is GME managed to have an atrocious Q2 even with corona fueling a boon for the vidya industry. Like that is such a huge red flag when you compare it to BBBY, also B&M too, which was able to take advantage of increased demand for home shit during covid
The Gamestop board are so incompetent, they've had over a year, and progress is still unknown and no one knows what the fuck their roadmap is (if they even have one)
Their entire plan was to just cannibalize themselves and survive until the console cycle, instead of actually adapting to the rapidly growing video game industry

I will load up on ps3 and such at some point. this year I intend on trying to find someone offloading xbone stuff for christmas presents. this is what ~$200 gets you if you are prudent. I could offload many of these individual titles for $15/ea. if you truly care about ps2, ps3, 360 then there are very few titles out of reach for you. frankly, there isn't too much that is expensive in the video game collecting hobby unless you are interested in completing a set or some particular titles. I've got about 500 boxed n64 games and I'm fairly close to completing the set if I wanted to complete if I could for fairly cheap. a lot of lifelong/adult hobbies are much more expensive than buying an old game here or there. I can't find the old listing, but I saw someone sell a mostly complete n64 set (350 games) and it only went for about 4 grand. several were shrink wrapped and mint. that's nothing compared to what people waste on cars or literally anything, and that's a complete NA set for a console.

I'm still curious about the unusual amount of 17p that was written for 12/18. It makes up around 40% of the total open interest for puts
Somebody is ok with getting assigned 2 million shares overnight

Also more interesting, someone bought those puts on Oct 15 and it's not looking good for them. They paid a premium of ~$3/share for those so they're breakeven would be around $10.5/share if im looking at this right

I've bought from all types of people. my favorite are the guys who meet in a hardware store lot and immediately march into the store with the cash I hand them. I know carpet is shit. this is just one haul I had a while back at home depot. this guy just had a baby and his wife bugged him to clean out the closet. I am gonna stop posting about this stuff because it's a bit flooding. the ps1 titles were great, kartia, parasite eve, xenogears, lunar, also had a copy of marvel vs capcom 2 and a gba micro that I put a hentai faceplate on. video game stocks generally suck but you can't go wrong with TTWO, EA, TCEHY.

EA performance has been lacking and I am not sure where they will go as a company aside from relying on their cash cows. I hope their sports titles are not targeted because they represent a lot of revenue. They are a very old brand and have demonstrated the ability to create long term cash cows so I feel as if it's a ticker I can hold onto for a while but don't expect short term growth.

i posted this map earlier but this is more a problem with still having way too many stores
like Gamestop is still suffering badly when the board had this mentality to expand aggressively like they're like coffee shops

there is no reason Gamestop should be reliant on sales of collectibles and used games to stay profitable, given how line ups can get crazy with some game releases (e.g. Animal crossing). This is a problem with efficiency and the board members lacking the decisiveness to cut down stores fast enough. Some stores are too close and basically competing with each other

does anyone else here have paychex as a 401k provider? my company has only just offered 401ks january of 2018. I set it to max contribution (no match). all I see available is kinda shit funds. I stuck everything in VGIAX and I'm quite unhappy with performance. I max out all available tax advantaged accounts and I just want the best thing to stick this money into until I'm able to roll over or something. I don't know.

Soros has already offloaded all of their position that they were allowed to sell. Now he's waiting for the next wave to sell the remainder of his investments. If it hasn't dipped much from his first wave, then I doubt the second wave will be much different.
