>It used to be the case that by simply leaving the UK for a complete tax year, and then disposing of any profitable assets (although different rules have always applied for property) during that year, you could be exempt from Capital Gains Tax. However, one year is no longer a sufficient length of time and an individual now has to be non-resident for a minimum of five complete UK tax years to take advantage of this rule.

You don’t need to sell your holdings. Take a loan out against a portion of your link and use some of it as collateral. Many options available. You don’t want link to go to $100 and you still haven’t sorted out your shit. Get on your fucking passport.

>> No.24099257

>>24099175
Sorry if it’s confusing. If you buy crypto in the U.K. and hold for over a year it is classified as a capital gain okay. You don’t pay unless you release that capital gain only on what you made in the year. When I invested in link I made nothing for the year then it went into capital gains territory okay.
Say you moved now hmrc could try and say when you despised if your crypto that you were in the tax year more in the U.K. that in Portugal. You move to Portugal now dispose of the asset after April. Fuck toy hmrc because I’m in the Portugal tax clearly. Make sense

Just a point that nobody ever seems to mention in these threads. Unless Portugal is somehow different from all other EU countries, it's not enough to just rock up and register at the local authority and that's that, you're tax resident in Portugal now. When you register, you need to demonstrate how you're supporting yourself. That means you need to have a job there, or register as self-employed (and prove you're paying for social security), or I guess you can probably also do it if you show them a bank statement (crypto doesn't count) showing that you have enough to support yourself.
But the point is that EU citizenship rights don't let you just move anywhere freely. You can be deported after three months if you don't have a job or another means of supporting yourself.
That's important to bear in mind because if your plan is to move to Portugal, live frugally as a NEET and wait for your LINK to moon, that might not work out for you.
Even if they let you register, you may still be tax resident back home unless you can demonstrate that Portugal is the main site of your economic activity, which in most interpretations means you're expected to have a job there.

Lixoboa is full of blacks, yes. But they are mostly well behaved because they don't have the Anglosphere or Francosphere mindset. They still have the preto mentality of the Lusosphere. Besides that, the country is relatively black-free but the Brazilians are the more insidious threat genetically and demographically speaking (mixed-race offspring assimilating into larger society). Also, Southern third of Spain is definitely much dirtier than Portugal.
