Do those large journalism sites really not make enough money by ads alone?
Is there any truth to all that begging about how if we don't support them they won't be able to provide us with their (((unbiased and apolitical))) articles?

The whole modern business model for journalism is so fucked.

Modern Journalists are pretty much wage slaves and get paid by how many views they get on an article. This is why they are so easily influenced by the elites. The elites tell them a story they want to hear (a story that will get clicks) and they print it without fact checking because the faster they get it out the better and if they find incorrect info its too late.

Their readership continues to drop and many have gone out of business. I'm not sure we've lost much though, since someone's enemy is the only one willing to speak truth to power nowadays.

Why do you think their readership continues to drop?
It seems to me that people are more political than ever right now. Some decades ago you couldn't convince most women to read something about politics, let alone convince teenagers.
I'd expect their business to be booming.

As a journalist, I can confirm I get paid dogshit wages for the amount of work/stress put on me. I don't get paid based on views. My organization stressed those for awhile but now wants deeper content for subs. And, yes, all journos are stenographers for the elites at times but not always. Best part of my job is taking out my father issues on people in power
