Ahh yes, I probably should sent out an email today

What are my fellow WFHs doing on this fine day?

I’m at work, in the office. Mandatory masks since July. 40hrs (at least) of wearing a mask, every week. If you ever dislike WFH, please think of me. Think of what they’re doing to your boy. Be grateful anons. Cherish the privilege. I hope to be in your position someday soon, otherwise it might be my time to die.

I would have just told my boss I'm working from home the day they announced that. In fact, I told my boss I'd be working remotely since last December before masks were even a thing and it's been working out nicely.

Applied to a leader position, but I've jumped from wanting it to dreading getting it. if you're into dev stuff, the easiest way to break into the market would be to build a nodejs app that gets data from somewhere and stores it into a database. It's unironically that simple as long as you know how to talk about the process behind it. Maybe 3-6 months of studying and practice and you can get a remote job easily

Assuming this covid hoax ever ends (it won't, but lets pretend it does), do you think the office job paradigm has a place in a post-covid world?
The internet, computers and mobile technology have evolved enough that anyone can do office work from anywhere with the same (if not greater) effectiveness. So productivity is a non-issue.
The other positive side for the bigwigs is the bottom line, offices are expensive to maintain and since profit is all the executives care about, that's pretty much a non-issue.
The only foreseeable problem is the boomer mindset ingrained in most corporate seats of power, where you HAVE to be in the office otherwise you're not actually working. I believe the power of currency will beat out the power of boomer luddism, but that remains to be seen.

I'm living in new zealand right now and it's effectively over for us. Some companies have transitioned back into office work but they're all run by micromanagers. Other companies have fully transitioned over. The talent going to offices is generally lower as a rough observation as most good employees don't want to be stuck in an office and have the career capital to choose.
Our government has largely shifted to working from home and highly flexible working arrangements as well so the real shift is underway.

Tbh I could never stand work or office life it made me brutally depressed but this shit is pretty damn good. I could happily live my life going to little coffee shops hanging out at the beach and working from home forever.
