Look at what happened in 2017 when btc hit a new ath, look at the change from December 17th 2017 to January 14th 2018 https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/
The alts followed btc as it went up, then when btc dumped they all pumped.

We'll probably see a retracement to ~12k after we hit around 20k this time around, and who knows if it'll follow the same move into alts this time around, but its happened before.
