They are but there's good reason for them to be, the UK has very few good prospects in most regards. Even the government has a large majority but is now unstable and has a lot of risk for next election. Job market is fucked, domestic production is fucked, SMEs are fucked, lending is fucked, housing is fucked. There's no stability in the UK.
>that doesn't mean it will stay that way forever. you make money by buying the dip
True but over a shorter term you can make more money with the US. The country has better prospects and their markets have far more liquidity. UK stock plays need a long time frame and I really don't see a lot of potential payoff. The biggest stocks are exposed to shit sectors as well (oil, banking, aerospace, etc.).
Makes more sense now you say you're still mostly in US stocks though, I thought you'd liquidated a huge portion to put into UK.

>Makes more sense now you say you're still mostly in US stocks though, I thought you'd liquidated a huge portion to put into UK.
i can't afford to invest as much as most ppl here but i did, before second vaccine news, liquidate my QQQ which was about 20% of my portfolio, and put most of that in UK stocks

I agree that the UK economy is in a terrible state, however that's pretty much the reason i'm investing more there now, because right now i think the only way is up for the UK (because it's so fucking bad, this is the bottom). it will get a bit worse in real terms but i reckon the market has that priced in

i'm not all in the FTSE 100 because as you said, plenty of shit companies there. and no tech or much innovation going on. my UK stock picks however are doing very well. i'm mostly in UK banks and oil, plus some misc stocks i believe are over priced

today my UK banks (HSBA and LLOY) are both up 5%, and my UK oil is also up 5%. UKX up 2% and still has much higher to go in medium term. but the majority of my money will continue to go into US value and growth stocks

i think the "stickiness" of hubs like london and other similar cities is stronger than that. that's my bet. i'm trying to take the long view, i believe plenty of WFH will remain after all this is over but your view is too extreme. indeed some aspects of this are positive for london, as people moving out will make housing in london a bit more affordable and breathe some life into the city. what we had pre-covid19 was definitely unsustainable

Also, law offices in London usually took care of EU law, and that's all going away.

if intel actually has the balls to abandon their foundries (huge short-term loss for them, not likely) and go fabless and outsource to TSM
im not sure if AMD actually wins there, the only winner would be TSM. Both AMD and INTC loses
the best case scenario, if you're AMD:TSM, is that Intel continues to stagnate by itself. And if everyone is thirsty for TSM's capacity, Intel won't even be able to book orders with TSM

I really doubt Bob Swan would have the balls to abandon the foundries, it's just too much risk and a big stain on his bean counter resume. But they can't move on to EUVL either because TSM's hogging all the ASML orders

>Yes, but high finance and law jobs (the core of London services) are extremely favourable of remote.work.
Also, law offices in London usually took care of EU law, and that's all going away.
In finance, hedge funds are now actually thinking about going 100% remote. They don't need to travel anymore to meet with company directors, they just use zoom.
Public sector jobs aren't really representative of what makes London, London.
All a good point but I have to ask what the big deal is? With the technology available now we're adopting and evolving our ways of working more quickly than we otherwise would but that change would almost certainly still take place at a slower pace without covid. If it's a no brainer all of a sudden for certain workforces to work productively outside of expensive as fuck cities then it strikes me as something inevitable anyway.
>Did you not notice why Bojo is so desperate for an antlantic trading agreement? And thinking about buying chlorinated chicked from the US? The signs are all there.
Yeah and there's many more countries around the world to buy from including the US. Don't really understand why trade deals are a bad thing, the fact the UK can negotiate for its own interests rather than negotiate as part of a bloc for the blocs interest is an opportunity. As far as I can see the only downside is the timescale of striking those deals, but the UK is a huge and valuable import market and there are countries that desperately prop their economies up for exports (including major ones in the EU).
>chlorinated chicken
