If we compare to 2016-2017, ether still have some 3-4 months of sideway movement, while bitcoin will keep going up. Ether leads the altcoin market, so alt season will come only after it rises. This is a good time to buy and accumulate ether, while the markets are eyeing bitcoin.
If this cycle repeats the previous one, ether will skyrocket very fast, to a maximum of 100x at the top. Altcoins will follow it, and as in 2017, it will make turns with bitcoin.
