Why do people invest their life savings into stuff like bitcoin, which is famous for being unpredictable and life ruining, and then get surprised when said bitcoin is unpredictable and life ruining?

Even if you bought BTC at the worst possible time, you wouldn't be down that much right now

Only if you bought during 7 days on 2017.
Otherwise up.

Because the universe is in flux.

The early investors have all not only made money but have seen returns that are unprecedented (no other asset has a similar ROI). I think there are a total of 12 days or something where you would have lost money in the 11 year life of Bitcoin just buy holding. You're conflating Bitcoin for trading - trading is what's life ruining, and something like 95% of people lose money.

As for unpredictability - see above. Also, recently with the March crash Bitcoin didn't do much worse than most equities. The days of 90% drops are long gone.

As for why people are investing in it? You should start paying more attention to what's happening in the world.

No one can predict the future, fren.
Who would have thought oil prices would go negative? While you dismiss "internet money" remember that many, many NEETs became multi fuckin' millionares overnight because of bitcoin and eth.

Literally anyone that ever bought Bitcoin and kept them except the very few that bought the absolute top at the end of 2017 is now richer. What the fuck are you talking about? Bitcoin is literally the safest bet in all of crypto and at this point even a safer bet than Stocks.

And when you think life ruining you probably think about the guy who sold everything he owned including his own house and probably read around that before the crash and thought "haha retard".
What you didn't read is that he bought in February that year and was still in profit after the crash and what you also didn't read was that he is a multimillionaire now
