That's a really broad question and there's probably a thousand different experiences. Personally, pretty comfy as my job is basically handling the backoffice stuff while an employee goes to the clients. Admittedly, my employee makes way more money than I do, but then again, I work maybe 2 hours a week and I don't need much to get by (I reduced my expenses and I have other sources of income from renting out apartments which often is more work than my business). For me, running a business is basically an excuse for getting into social security cheaply (strange laws in my country, don't ask).

It also supposedly helps your kidneys function healthily such that its hydrating which in turn is actually a net positive on the circulatory system unless in rare cases people get arythmia which is generally only fat out of shape fucks

If you're smart enough to have a lean, relatively hands-free income model, ideally in a space that you have a true passion for, it can be blissfully rewarding. Think, "Fucking off doing shit I enjoy, and getting PAID".

If you're definition of "self-employment" is owning your own shitty restaurant on the bad side of town, dealing with druggie employees that consistently work to ruin whatever image your business might have, health inspectors, taxes, customer complaints, lawsuits, roaches, asshole food vendors, rising prices, taxes, etc... it can be an absolute nightmare.

If you want to work for yourself, design a model that allows you to not work hard, yet still get PAID.

I tried to do freelance design out of college, was terrible, getting screwed out of money constantly, also spent more time chasing jobs than actually working and making money.

Setting your own hours is really cool until you realize you’re essentially always on the clock in some way and technically could always be doing something to further your business

>> No.23841112

>Ok...what are the strange laws
Why are you doing this to me?
1) Income from rental properties is taxed differently and seen as "private" income, as income from "wealth management" similar to savings interest. That means it does not count as "income from work".
2) Social security is mandatory for people who work (employed or self-employed).
3) If you do not work, you can voluntarily sign up. It costs about 2000 a month.
4) If you do work, you pay like ~20% of your work income, minimum of ~150 a month.

So running a sham business where I'm making 4 digit income a year is saving me a fuckton of money, because I pay 150 bucks a month instead of 2k and get full and free access to healthcare and years that count towards a state pension.
