people trade for like 2 - 5 years before they get TRULY consistently good AND betting at large enough sizes to really matter.

day trading is a meme for most people, especially in crypto. swing trading is a little more accessible.

>> No.23824101

No, it’s meme. All the “traders” you see on the internet are making money from selling you the courses or books. Real traders working for firms are first trading not their own money and live from salary and second, they do not exist anymore because everything has been automatized already on such time frames which are impossible for humans to trade anymore.
Do not day trade, just hodl btc, eth and link.

other anons are kind of right in the sense that if you think of day trading as some sort of fast paced epic job then you are going to lose lots because you are just playing into exchanges hands at that point.
The higher the time frame you trade on the easier it is to trade. Most of the time in crypto there isnt enough volatility to be a "day" trader in the sense that you are trading very short time frames. Really forex is the market to do that sort of trading due to such high volume
With crypto as other anons said best thing to do is trade large swings. probably aim for 1-2 trades per week. This also teaches you patience. Patience is the key to trading

you need to have a pretty good amount of capital to start off with for it to even be worth it imo. But with a smaller amount of capital using low leverage for a long term position would probably be profitable, since we're in a bull run just buy the dips and take profit into the short liquidations on massive pumps to lower your leverage, rinse and repeat.

Yes you can, but being fairly wealthy in the first place is a prerequisite.

>> No.23824919

My father, a competent engineer, who coached me into having great success as a mathlete, and who personally had a great career (made director in a big telecom company) spent ten years day trading before he died, most of that time spent after retirement, when he had all the time in the world to trade. When he died, and I had to manage everything, I was foolish enough to see how much money he really made on the market, just to find that he was outperformed by anyone that just bought fucking bonds each month.
I find impossible to take day traders seriously ever since.

>> No.23824940

Nah, day trading it's NOT a meme. The prerequisite for it is a lot higher than people think. People think they can come in with $500 to $10,000 and think they can start trading. You need a minimum of $65,000 to even barely break even. You could be sitting comfortable at $125,000. The thing though, people get really clammy when they start messing with "large" amounts of money like this. Especially people who have zero experience when loosing 50k within seconds. If you do have the necessary funds, just look online for software programs that help give you access to more information. A program that comes to mind is Trade Ideas and other shit. Good luck.

this guy is right in the sense that yes the odds are highly stacked against you... especially if you are a normie who heard about it from some celebrity.
The thing is the frontrunning algos dont really affect day trading they are basically just a tax on all trades at this point .... unfair but yeah
This doesnt mean its impossible though. It just takes lots of time, research, and a decent amount of capital to lose before you can become profitable.
Algos are just designed to make money because they "trick" other algos or 95% of people
you just need to figure out how to trade with the algos and let them do the work for you

>> No.23825156

>>23824940
it matters just about zero how much you start with

and just to be clear there is a difference between front running trade algos which are just smarter people with better technology taxing everybody else. Frontrunning algo bots can have years worth of normal trades done in a few seconds because they are battling each other on such small time frames. Its actually insanity
and regular trading algos which are just algos that are designed to extract money from the market in a general sense. It can get very complex. It is essentially war and there are no rules to war.

It’s the scaling up that’s hard. Any retard can learn some basic risk management and use his 5 figure portfolio to swim around in essentially unlimited volume. You can easily beat the market and if you do it long enough, shave about 15 years off your retirement target. Actually living off your trades is a whole other story if you aren’t trying to live like a pauper.

I was a degenerate swing trader for 2 years. Been a swingtard since Sep2017. I was down close to 95% early 2019. I knew I had to make it back with "one final" trade otherwise I would always be in the hole. I lost prolly like 5 in a row after that thought. I DCAed another 15k on top of the 35k I previously put in. I finally bought link at 1.35 and sold at 4.50 to rebuy in back at 1.50. That was the the second last time I traded but it was ONE of the reasons i am now back in the green. I also picked up 25% my stack selling link recently at 12$ and buying in back at $9.50. I knew it was gonna drop to 7$ but swinging now seems like the rope itself.

There's reasons in I'm the green now. One was that dope trade described above. The second was the DCA of the extra15K. The DCA was the safer option. If I lost out on my last 2 trades I would roping myself.

The reason I'm in profit on 100% of my last 2 trades....is because I lost so much fucking money. You never wanna be in my shoes. Dont swing trade. It's literally gambling.

If you wanna swing trade. Do it hypothetically and document everything. All you loses and wins. Do it for 2 years and tell me ur profits. I feel like now I can call most tends. It's never 100% and I know if I followed my plans I would be rich as fuck right now.

The thing is once ur money is in it and it's not hyptheticals....ur reactions are different. Its impossible to remove the emotional when its ur money.

Daytrading margins for equity futures is $500 with many brokers. You don't need a lot of capital to trade but you'll probably lose your money if you've only been doing it for less than 12 months.

If you actually plan your trades and review your losses, you can become profitable. I mostly scalp ES and NQ during the first 90 minutes and I'm making more than I do at my software job.

The reality is that 95% of people "trading" are just punting, revenge trading, or trading too large. That's why so many people fail.
