Culinary school is a scam. You just go to a good restaurant and start out as a dishie and work your way up while getting paid, and it allows you to decide if it's the right environment because working in a calm school setting without lines of tickets pales in comparison to the real thing

You can't fake cooking an egg and in the 10 years I spent in the industry the majority of fresh cooks I saw crash and fail were from cheapo-depot CA programs.

What they don't teach is that the industry is fucking bullshit and you have to be stupid or crazy to do it for a permanent career.

What about the industry do you hate? The food industry is pretty big, it doesn't mean you're stuck in back-of-the-house for the rest of your life. You could go into food media, food journalism, agriculture, restaurant management, tourism, and other adjacent industries and use your degree.
