What professions are a meme. IT seems like a giant meme. So does "consulting" what the fuck are you producing if you "consult"?

It depends.
The vast majority of people who call themselves consultants, just finish jobs that a company can't finish themselves(apparently) and then charge an outrageous amount.
However, a consulting forester is a consultant that makes sure landowners get a fair deal when selling timber and make a management plan for their forest. So that's an example of a consultant that isn't a meme.

I'm on a team for an IT "Consultant". Pretty much this. If you go into IT, learn how to talk and explain tech problems to normies with a good attitude. Fake it. I pretty much get paid to get the right people all in one room, or email, then schedule until the project is completed. It's mostly just dealing with vendors/projects that their internal IT/management doesn't want to deal with. People love it and pay for it.

Anything that is not STEM is a meme.
Some trades are also alright like electician if you dont have issues working physically.
