Im new to monero and I'm lucky to be living in a place with 3 monero ATMs in 30minutes drive proximity.
Redpill me on why I should store my money in monero? If some government would ban it, wouldn't it lose value because it would scare off institutions ?

It's like Bitcoin but private. Nothing more to be said. I can't send you Monero and then look at your wallet and all your transactions. If you don't believe in the project as much as Bitcoin, you can always hold Bitcoin and use Monero. Most Monero chads think that Monero's BTC ratio will appreciate though.

Monero's value is that it is a cryptocurrency that is fungible. It will always be needed in situations where Bitcoin fails, such as the dark net. Also Monero can't really be "banned". Certain authoritarian countries can make it more difficult to on ramp to it, but as long as you have internet you will be able to get Monero. Over time, we expect Monero's clout to rise as more people find out about a faster and more private alternative to Bitcoin that is less valued.

Monero has had a great year but our BTC ratio is not where it should be. We expect the ratio to grow greatly during the next bull run. We peaked at 0.03BTC last bull run, and a lot of us Monero chads expect higher.

It's secure. Downloading the blockchain is definitely recommended but you can get away with using a light wallet or by connecting remotely.

I think Bitcoin is more-or-less giving up on privacy. They would have to hard fork to get even a quarter of the privacy Monero has.

Monero has some slight weakness after being up pretty big against all other coins. XMR might go down till $105 or even $95 but could also reverse up much earlier maybe even at the current price level, so I'm not trading this.

There was this study that claimed that xmr pool mining only matters if you want your rewards as early as possible. The conclusion was that you just have to patient with solo mining and you'd get the same amount of xmr after the equal amount of time. I don't know if I recall it correctly, though.

if you have enough cpu power to mine at least one block per year statistically then go for it. it's actually the best way to ensure a dezentralized network and more people should do it imo. in the long run you will get better rewards due to pool fees as well.
