I’m thinking of buying LINK here, chart looks bullish as fuck.

Also, invested in pic related and expansion, would anyone like to play starting from Act 1?

I can’t believe how disappointing D3 was. They somehow managed to strip almost everything from the series that made 2 so unique.

Yup. Now i just hope they strip d3 to the bone, and create something more similiar to d2. Looks like it, but you never now

No PvP for one. A lot of the fun in D2 was dueling outside town which gave meaning to your gear. Also the possibility of being PKed at any time made the PvE more exciting especially given the dark setting, and the ability to PK people when they annoyed you was incredible.

The loot was more fun too since there was no AH. When D3 came out finding loot was almost never exciting because you got most of your upgrades from the AH. They eventually got rid of the AH but there were still systems that made finding loot boring such as the ability to upgrade with gold.

Also D2 was one of the first games other than MMOs to have an interesting community aspect with the chat lobbies, forums, the ladder competition, people selling loot on eBay. It’s common now but back then, games usually didn’t store so much data server side so it was a more disposable game world. D2 was a lot of people’s first exposure to a semi persistent virtual environment.

D3 not only lacked that kind of innovation, it was a step back in some ways such as less players per game instance. I still can’t believe how bad they screwed up. Like a completely different company made it.

they also toned down the horror and the gore, wich made D3 an isometric world of warcraft sttyle bullshit, you couldnt play with more than 4 people; the hell level was too hard, the loot you got from previous difficulties wasnt enought to help you with hell, they created weird laser mechanics and rangers and melee were both targetted at the same time, there we no towns where you could chill with friends, in D2 anyone could join your game it was open, in D3 it was closed games, no chat and lobbies where you can hang and see your character, no fucking pvp no trading, it was all based around gold

This reminds me of what they did with WoW over time (and caused a lot of other MMOs to do because so many copy WoW) where they gutted the multiplayer aspect in favor of simpler, more accessible gameplay inside of queued instances instead of in the open world. Games like D2 and the early MMOs seemed to be heading in the direction of something resembling the virtual worlds of science fiction but the devs all decided to reverse course for whatever reason. If I were more conspiracy minded I would suspect it was to stop people especially young men from forming strong online communities but the reality is probably just that shallow quasi single player games are easier to ship and make more money.
