Depends how you want to trade. Hold short term or hold long term. Long term just go index funds or leveraged index funds for more juice. Shorter term pick companies you have at least heard of before in sectors that are healthy. Then look at the charts and see which has strong trend upwards over long term.

Or hang around here and chase whatever the meme(s) of the month is/are.

The best advice for beginners is to pick stocks they know. You use Windows? You pay with Visa? Your company has all Adobe subscriptions? Your pc runs on ryzen?

Essentially pick companies you know and interact with. Just look into them so you can have a base you can expand from.

This is what I'm doing:
Watching tomorrow Amazon, FaceBook, KraftHeinz, Twitter, Nokia, Shopify - depending on how they do will dictate if I go in or not Friday
I do not want to go back in before seeing Amazon. I think it would be foolish to go in before seeing Amazon, as Amazon has the ability to move the whole market both if it shits the bed or if it crushes that puss.
I expect tomorrow to be a modest recovery day, 0-1.5% green with 75% probability, or another day like Tuesday with 25% probability
If tomorrow is another 2-3% red day, I think that will be irrational, but will still be afraid to buy before seeing Amazon, but may regret it on Friday. However, "I don't ever buy the bottom, and I don't ever sell the top" may turn out best, just in case of a large Amazon disappointment, no harm buying for slightly more on Friday.
If the election is decided by electoral college (not House / Supreme Court) [which I would say 90-95% chance it would be decided by E.C] then the markets will pump HARD in the short-term no matter who wins. The markets want there to be no more uncertainty more than anything else. As soon as it's decided, PUMP. However, November 16 the House will be back in session to vote on stimulus. If Fancy Nancy continues to push poison pills and Democrat city bailouts, the fiscally conservative Senate will be forced to obstruct (especially if Biden wins, and if the Senate gains Democrat seats)
In December, if Biden is elected, the reality of higher capital gains will kick-in, and it will drive institutions to sell + virus case numbers will be high worldwide [yes, the market cares about the virus and lockdowns]
Then the stimulus might get tied to the overall government funding in December.. and very likely, Fancy Nancy will use that as an opportunity to insert even more poison pills, again, because she can on such an important combination bill. The markets will not like this.
Only speaking hypothetically here [no shit]

TQQQ is too speculative. Nice returns over past 10 years, but too good to stay that way forever. It's just the flu bro, literally. Mortality rate is 0.0003%, and it infects less than 1% of a country's population.
90% of 'covid deaths' are lies (hospitals are paid a bounty for every such reported case), according to the CDC (germany originally used the same kind of bullshit numbers and switched to real tracking only to find the same pattern of overreporting was previously happening), and there's no reliable test (he most reliable ones, ab-based, get false positives for people who got the common cold, 11% of cases being caused by coronavirii).
Personally, I, my coworkers, and my family know nobody who's ever been even so much as infected, let alone died from it. Far more likely your coworkers got the flu and self-diagnosed as covid. While there's no evidence of reinfection, it's likely to be a thing, just like for the common cold or the flu. So what?

>Most tests set the limit at 40 or 37, which means you are positive for COVID-19 if the test requires up to 40 or 37 cycles to detect it.

>The test’s threshold is so high it detects people with the live virus and those with few genetic fragments that are leftovers from infection and no longer pose risk, Mina says. It’s like finding a hair in a room after a person left.

> Experts say a reasonable cutoff for the virus would be 30 or 35 cycles, according to Juliet Morrison, a virologist at the University of California, Riverside.

>Mina said he would set the cutoff at 30.

>New York's state lab Wadsworth analyzed cycle thresholds values in already processed COVID-19 PCR tests and found in July that 794 positive tests were based on a threshold of 40 cycles.

>With a cutoff of 35, about half of those tests would no longer qualify as positive. About 70 percent would no longer be judged positive if the cycles were limited to 30.

>In Massachusetts, from 85 to 90 percent of people who tested positive in July with a cycle threshold of 40 would have been considered negative if the threshold were 30 cycles, Mina said.

>'I would say that none of those people should be contact-traced, not one,' he said.

> The CDC said its own calculations suggest its extremely hard to detect a live virus in a sample above a threshold of 33 cycles.

The problem is that dividends are mostly a last resort kind of thing. You do that when you're far too rich, so liquidating your stocks to free up some cash for something is just not a good idea.
Otherwise, either you get some growth stocks or an ETF and you'll do better than dividend stocks.
In fact, everytime the divvytard is called out on the atrocious performance of virtually all dividend stocks, he backpedals and start shilling growth stocks while pretending they totally count because he says so.

Easy for someone to say "oh my god I have a runny nose, look at me everyone I have covid!!!" without first getting tested, such as just for attention or to get a free break from work. If you mean to say all of the 75 got government-tested and were positive, I'd go with >>23585623 if it's a PCR-based test.

They're by far the worst. 5% div yield per year and -25% average 5y price change. You have no choice but to handpick divvy stocks if that's what you're going for, and even then you really shouldn't do that because, once more, QQQ will defeat your gains including DRIP.

>>23585822
Yes, it's amazing. It's a shame because maybe there are dividend strategies we don't know about, but clearly nobody who shills dividends have any idea about them either.
For example, maybe someone knows a viable dividend capture strategy and would like to discuss it, but it's impossible with the divvytard shills.

To be fair, most of the so-called "traders" on this board would legitimately be better served buy-and-holding an index ETF, or for that matter a selection of dividend-paying bluechips. I chose to trade Ruger for the following reasons:
1. Retraced a lot off the 2020 summer peak
2. It has a very small float of ~17 million shares. Small float means price can move a lot in very short period of time if demand for the stock spikes.
3. zero debt
4. specialty is mainly mid range guns with prices somewhat competitive with the lowest cost companies like Hi-Point and Rock Island. Ruger is generally the company you lean towards if you don't want the cheapest of the cheap but you're still trying to save money.

This is a swing trade only. It is not a long hold. Look at the long term chart to see why. It doesn't trend consistently. As soon as market thinks the high demand is tapering off, shareholders are going to pull out and price will drop.
