This thread is from 2011 when people realized that they will actually be rich from bitcoin. See similarities with link?

I'm not gonna click that link because I don't want to be reminded of what I missed out on. I also have a large stack of link and am afraid I'm going to jinx myself by being hopeful and having high expectations.

I am putting all my money into bitcoin - I see a possibility of $50-$100+ per coin this year. Just think, once the "bankers" and hedge funds find out about this, we are going to the moon. Once my bitcoins are $1,000+ I will be able to pay off my growing college loans and maybe get an apartment, and my first car "

Back in the day I kek'd at the "never selling" meme.
But as time has gone by, I've realized that it's not a meme, considering there are basically two scenarios for link:

1) It may reach $(insert optimistic number here). If that happens, it's because a) the dollar is fucked, b) traditional, old school business are mostly fucked and c) chainlink will actually be used to enhance a huge amount of smart contracts. If that's the case, why the fuck would I sell? My linkies will be generating passive income while being staked. What other assets would seem attractive next to that? Real estate? nope. Bonds? Top kek.

2) It may reach $(insert pessimistic number here). If that happens, it's because the project failed miserably. In which case... why the fuck would I sell? To cash out and get what. An xbox? Fuck that, not selling.

In other words: I am genuinely, unironically, never fucking selling.

Yes. In my opinion, that's because many luxury goods (such as lambos) were not only seen as rarer and therefore hard to attain (because of the lack of social media development, influencers, etc) but because they were ACTUALLY much rarer.

This reminds me of a story of someone buying a small company and never selling until his death:
>If you'd invested $10,000 at the end of 1964 in Berkshire Hathaway stock, you'd have more than $274 million as of the end of 2019, a compound annual return of just over 20%.

>Usually examinations of the spectacular returns from buying and holding a major company after getting in on the ground floor are purely hypothetical. Berkshire is notable in having at least one publicly-documented real-life example.
>In the 1990's, Donald and Mildred Othmer were an unassuming couple living in New York City, having been married for over 40 years. Donald was a professor of chemical engineering at what was then called the Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. He was distinguished in the field of chemical engineering, with a large number of patents and a business doing consulting. When the childless couple died in their 90's, Donald in 1995, and Mildred in 1998, they donated their money to a number of charities, such as the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, the University of Nebraska, and Polytechnic in Brooklyn. Each of donations totaled over $100 million, with the couple's combined estates worth approximately $750 million.

>Few people knew about their extreme wealth, which adjusted for inflation would be worth over a $1 billion in 2020 dollars, as they had never changed their lifestyle throughout their life. The source of their wealth was the $25,000 each had invested with Warren Buffett, a family friend, in the early 1960's. They received Berkshire Hathaway stock at $42 a share in 1970. The Othmers had kept their money invested, slowly adding to it, even as others in their family withdrew their money. The Othmers stayed in for the long haul, and were a staggeringly successful example of the sort of long-term investing that Buffett always preached the value of.

Real cool babby, but this kind of delusional thinking screwed a lot of people out of profits during the 2017 bullrun. Yes, there might be a slight chance that you're holding the one holy token that will moon, but more likely your shitcoin of the month will make a short boom and then disappear forever, like 99% of tokens. Be wise and take profits along the way, you'll sleep much better.
