I'm not sure how slow they actually are compared to everyone else. The tech they are building certainly seems "bleeding edge" right now, but they are dependent on other teams work too. If you look at the earlier videos of lightning swaps etc, they have basically condensed a ton of research and a process which took 30~min to do in earlier videos into an easy to use GUI which does it all under the hood very quickly. If you look at all the other projects that are on the edge of research you can easily see that they are slow as hell with previous deadlines in 2017 etc still not being released. The whole crypto-space is slow as hell.
