Exactly, and no QST/PMG pics last I checked, hence the attempt to represent the board. Kind of impossible to do so in any other way than a screencap of a quest thread, since the entire board and culture is just quest threads.

But I tried. Whoever manages the crossboarding compilation pic can take it or leave it. Just wanted it to be known that yet another board is into stacking.

I am not 100% sure what the host rock is here. This ore sample came from a waste dump at a small abandoned mine near Pure Golds operation, so its likely similar geologically to that deposit. The host is probably a meta basalt or similar ancient altered regional body. These gold ore deposits are some of the oldest on earth too, around 2 billion years old.

I don't. I invest in both. I just think the market/economy is headed in a direction where it may not matter if you are making dollars. the dollar is in a historic sense, nearing it's collapse. so I do invest in stocks, bonds, index funds, etc. But I keep PM's because I have a sneaking suspension that 8%-12% I'm making will eventually not make up for the money I'm losing to inflation.

Newfag here, I’ve been lurking for a week or so on the pmg since I feel that ultimately it’s a better steady investment for the upcoming “reset” but I’d like to get a better redpill as to why should I invest on pmg over stocks, crypto and index funds? My goal is really not to make money or increase my investment, but rather have a physical asset of my savings for financial security and stability due to the shit shows that are about to come. I already have the essentials (food, water, ammo and plenty of guns) but why pm? I’m also trying to understand so I can redpill my friends, they all have their savings and investments in cash, bitcoin , stocks and other misc crypto, but I just fear for them since ultimately, anything can happen at this point. >I’d like to get a better redpill as to why should I invest on pmg over stocks, crypto and index funds?
Index funds may keep their value in the long term but it could take years, maybe even longer than a decade for them to recover their value after a massive deflation. Stocks are the same, but with the added risk that you lose everything. Investing into the stock market is a bet against deflation & crash, it's a bet for continued stimulus and inflation. Crypto is kind of a wild card, it might work or it might not. I'm not going to speculate on them because there is no historical evidence of their performance in a huge crash. They're tulips to me.
>why pm?
Lasting physical assets that have maintained their value and status as sound money for millenia.

i think silver has as much a chance of rising 10x as bitcoin does at this point. common sense suggests that bitcoin will likely lose its status as the #1 marketcap coin at some point due to high fees and slow transactions. i don't believe the "digital scarcity" meme. there are dozens of cryptos that can functionally replace bitcoin any time. basing ones investments on what people want rather than what they need seems unwise. this is why i think metal, especially silver and other metals that are used industrially, are a good investment.

You're reading into it wrong anon. Back then there was no gold standard, and there was no dollar standard, and there was no floating fiat currency. Gold & silver were money back then, not paper & digits. Advocates for Free Silver were ln favor of "UNLIMITED COINAGE OF SILVER INTO MONEY ON DEMAND", a.k.a. money printing, which is currently in effect via the Fed. In reality, silver is in a relatively short supply, and there is increasing investment/industrial demand for it. Price of silver is going up because of supply & demand

most silver right now is produced as a by-product from the processing of other ores, it isn’t targeted. Should silver become currency again, not only will the increased demand and value cause mining operations to ramp up production, but historically we know that the cheaper silver will outcompete gold. This might sound bullish but there is a LOT of silver in the ground and flooding the market with silver will obviously have an inflationary effect

I was wrong. However, the byproduct is actually minuscule compared to the ore being mined such as zinc.
>Most of the silver produced today is a byproduct of mining copper, lead, and zinc. The silver occurs within the ores of these metals in one of two ways: 1) substituting for one of the metal ions within the ore mineral's atomic structure; or, 2) occurring as an inclusion of native silver or a silver mineral within the ore mineral. The value of this minor silver within the ore mineral can exceed the value of the primary metal within the ore.

silver can grant energy independence. if it were any cheaper they'd put solar panels on the top of electric cars and everyone's roof. how much do solar panels cost? they're essentially free energy and not that hard to manufacture. solar panels are about cheap enough to pay for themselves. cheaper silver means cheaper solar panels, and it would be worth it for more people to buy them. there will be no slack. excess silver will be gobbled up.

>how much of that would you use driving for twenty or thirty minutes?
That's a bit of a difficult question to answer so let's look at easier data and see whether it would actually be a good, profitable addition to an EV.

So first off, let me correct myself: battery sizes range from 17.6kWh to 100kWh. With 17.6kWh you can drive for about 58 miles (93km) and with 100kWh you can drive over 300 miles (482km) before needing a recharge (source https://www.myev.com/research/ev-101/electric-vehicle-battery-basics).). Let's compare to a 100kWh battery since that's a nice round number. So if we take a U.S. average of sunny days in a year -- 205 days -- and assume that there is a good ten hours of continuous sunlight per sunny day, and we remember that with five hours of sunlight you can get 1.5kWh of power with a solar panel, we can calculate how much energy you'd get in a year and how many recharges that could constitute:

1.5kWh * 2 * 205 = 615kWh of power per annum. So with a single solar panel, you could fully charge a Tesla Model S with a 100kWh battery 6.15 times per year! Let's see how much that is in miles: 6.15 * 300 miles = 1,845 miles = 2,969km per year!

Now, let's see how much that would cost if you just plugged your car into a charger instead. The average price of electricity in the U.S. is 13.19c/kWh. For 615kWh, you'd therefore have to pay: 13.19c * 615 = 8,111.85c = ~$81.12. Let's multiply this by 25 (the lifespan of a solar panel): $81.12 * 25 = $2,028 electricity fees for charging an EV in the span of 25 years. Finally, let us see how much a solar panel costs. According to https://www.solarreviews.com/solar-panel-cost, the national U.S. average price is between $10,550 - $12,894 (tax incl.).

Unless I made wrong assumptions or didn't consider some details, powering an EV with solar power isn't economically feasible. Somebody please correct me if so

that's almost 20% the average mileage people put on their cars a year.

and you're dreaming if you don't think it would be a hit among the disaster preparedness types and women.

i'm not saying it has to be enough energy alone to run the vehicle, but at the very least it would be a convenient for many people, and probably very popular regardless.

Actually no it isn't let's go:

Tesla Model S battery size: 100kWh
Assumed distance per battery charge: 300 miles
Assumed constant fixed speed: 60mph
Amount of time driven in minutes: 30 minutes

60mph / 2 = 30 miles driven in 30 minutes of constant driving in fixed speed
30 miles is a tenth of 300 miles, therefore 30 minutes of driving in 60mph speed will eat about a tenth of the total battery size
100kWh / 10 = 10kWh

Conclusion: 30 minutes of driving in a fixed speed of 60mph would spend 10kWh of power from the EV battery

i think most EVs will be equipped with a small PV just to maintain the battery if its parked for an extended time. otherwise it's like having a small gas leak. silver PVs are the simplest to manufacture and relatively durable so even if they do end up finding something more efficient i suspect nations like china will continue to manufacture silver-based panels for their own use whenever silver is cheap enough.

The cost of a solar system to run your house won't even pay itself off before the life of the system loses half of it's efficiency. That isn't mentioning any maintenence either. Expecting it is going to work for the next 30 years with zero maintenence and full capacity is a fucking joke. It will need to be replaced before it pays for itself, solar while great in theory is a fucking meme right now

You’d only be getting shafted on the premium, the face value is insignificant because it’s about 1/40th of what the coin is actually worth. Nobody in their right mind would ever spend silver, much less GOLD at face value

That’s really your preference. But considering gold price is $1,900 you could get around $5,700 for all your paper gold, and with silver spot price at $24.50 and change, factoring in a premium of $3 depending on what you’re buying, you could get around 200 oz of silver.

1 silver ounce would get me 2 medium pizzas, 4 soda pop, and a dip two years ago. Now that same silver ounce would get me double the amount. So if I wait another year holding onto the same ounce, I can get triple the deal with 6 pizzas, 12 drinks, and 3 dipping sauces.
